It hasn't sunk in yet - or am I strange?
Two days ago, I went to Salisbury Hospital for the results of a recent TRUS and biopsy. There it was - locally-advanced prostate cancer. I absorbed the news, accepted the information given to me and made an appointment for an MRI scan. It was just like going shopping! OK, so I drove home and opened a bottle of wine - but where is the panic, where are the emotions? I have read several blogs here - I only joined last night - and, while I relate to some of the things because I now carry the Cancer...

    Yay I feel good today
Hi everyone Had my last cycle of FEC on 30/3 and I am over the worst from the Chemo and steroids. I'm on the up again and boy does it help knowing that was the last chemo. Still got Rads, Tamoxifen and Herceptin to go but I feel more positive now. Also about five weeks ago my hair started sprouting. Admittedly its soft and downy and less then a quarter of an inch long but like seeing daffodils in the spring my fuzzy protrusions have given me new hope. It took me by surprise because I'd heard that...

    Yay!!
Hi everyone Feeling good cos I had my last chemo on 30 March and I am now back on the up after a groggy few days. Start my radiotherapy on 21 April. Got my planning session on Tuesday 14 April. Also my hair is sprouting already (started not long after cycle 4 - about five weeks ago) which took me by surprise as I had been told this would happen about 4 - 6 weeks after final session. Admittedly its very soft and downy and I am still without eyelashes and my eyebrows have all but disappeared. ...

Can we have some good news please!!!
Went to see onclolgist today and after being really optimistic after 3 rounds of chemo which were significantly shrinking the tumour and lymph glands, we found out it has been growing again while having the last 3 rounds of chemo . Talk about an absolute shocker! We have been told he can try Taxotere to see if that works. Before he starts that we are definitely having a holiday, probably next week. We have 2 boys 11 and 12 years old and my husband is only 40. I don't know how I'm going to keep it...

    Various Jokes
    1. Two antennas met on a roof, fell in love and got married. The ceremony wasn't much, but the reception was excellent. 2. A jumper cable walks into a bar. The bartender says, "I'll serve you, but don't start anything." 3. A man walks into a bar with a slab of asphalt under his arm and says: "A beer please, and one for the road." 4. Two cannibals are eating a clown. One says to the other: "Does this taste funny to you?" 5. "Doc, I can't stop singing 'The Green, Green Grass of Home.'" "That sounds...

    Overweight Irishman Joke
An Irishman was terribly overweight, so his doctor put him on a diet. 'I want you to eat regularly for 2 days, then skip a day, and repeat this procedure for 2 weeks. The next time I see you, you should have lost at least 5 pounds. When the Irishman returned, he shocked the doctor by having lost nearly 60lbs! 'Why, that's amazing!' the doctor said, 'Did you follow my instructions?' The Irishman nodded...'I'll tell you though, by jaesuz, I t'aut I were going to drop dead on dat 3rd day.' 'From...

    first chemo.
Hi All. Well I survived my first chemo yesterday, I was really dreading it. I arrived in the department at 9.AM and waited had the cannula put in my hand after soaking it in hot water for about 20 minutes as it is difficult to get at my veins. I was then told the phamacy department were not happy with my prescription and so had to contact the consultant. This all took at least 2 hours and eventually got going at about 11.30, after this all went well really and I must say it was not as bad a I thought...
