first chemo.

Less than one minute read time.
Hi All. Well I survived my first chemo yesterday, I was really dreading it. I arrived in the department at 9.AM and waited had the cannula put in my hand after soaking it in hot water for about 20 minutes as it is difficult to get at my veins. I was then told the phamacy department were not happy with my prescription and so had to contact the consultant. This all took at least 2 hours and eventually got going at about 11.30, after this all went well really and I must say it was not as bad a I thought it would be except sitting all those hours. My first lot of chemo was 3 hours and 2nd lot 1 hour and eventually got away and home about 6 o clock. So any starting chemo. today its not too bad, and I m now waiting to see what side events I may have, so far just tired. All my Love Ellen xx

Well done for getting through your first chemo, glad it was not as bad as expected.

Hope you find the same with the side effects.

    Good luck with your treatments.

    Hi Jo

Thank you, I am not feeling too bad today, but some say its the next two days that are worse but can only wait and see. Take one day at the time they say but that is hard to do when I usually lead a very busy life working and looking after grandaughter.

    Hope you are o.k.

    Love Ellen.X

One down! Sorry you had all the waiting around and that your veins did a runner but you have one under your belt now and hopefully they will get your prescription sorted for next time. On the canula front, have you asked for a port instead.  I have one in my chest, just where my bra strap is its entirely under the skin and doesn't require any care, not dressing etc.  Its called a Bard Port.

Hope your side effects are non existent and if not very light.

    Take care

    Hello Ellen

Pleased to hear your first experience was not too bad and that you are still feeling  good today. Mine starts next Tuesday and am a little apprehensive but just wanting to get on with it now that my PICC line is in and ready!

As you say, take each day as it comes and stay strong.

    Thinking about you,

    Love

    Peta x
