How do You Tell a 9 Year Old about Cancer...
Hello All, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2009. I am scheduled to start chemo on September 10th. My husband and I know we will have to tell our 9 year old daughter something as she will start to notice my hair falling out along with other symptoms. For those who have gone through this with younger kids, can you please share how you handled the matter with your kids? The clock is ticking and we know we will have to have that sit down talk. My husband and I want to be able to explain...

    Feeling a bit sad.
Feeling a bit sad today as just finished my last shift before my op. 1 weeks leave and then on the sick from beginning of op week. My colleagues have been absolutely wonderful, though suprised to see me at work. I am not sure when I will go back as due to infection risk/stress/workload/needing to be on top of my game, I am not sure if will be up to working during my chemo. Have been told to play it by ear, as no one knows how it will affect me. I will certainly miss it and hope they don't all...

    IT's 3.30 and we haven't cried yet!!
Lots of things in my mind - I have always been terrified of soft tissue tumors - don't ask me why. We both had a really bad day yesterday but seem to be a bit calmer today. We even got a reasonable amount of sleep last night. Tuesday is the big day - our first appointment at a specialist hospital in Birmingham , something we want to happen but our scared to hear what they are going to say. Is anyone out there going through treatment for this? Trying hard to be more positive but of course all...

    Still Waiting
Martin rang our GP on Friday who said he had been in contact with the Oncology Dept at Northampton for us, but unfortunately had been unable to get us an update because the doctor he needed to speak to is off sick. He asked Martin to ring him again on Wednesday. Can you believe it. Surely if the doctor who is going to be dealing with your case is off sick or holiday, they have people in their teams to cover them, surely it doesn't all stop?? I work for a domestic repair company, no customer will...

    Someone to blame
Thanks for all the comforting words from my previous post. Its good to know i'm not alone, although it feels like I am. I keep thinking about my Dad and thinking that they could have done more for him. I have read about pneumonia and treatments and there seems to be so much more they could have done. Im finding it hard to get my head round the fact that they stopped treatment for Dads pneumonia in such a short time. They said he was'nt responding but surely he must have been to have been eating and...
