    New to this.....
Hey everyone I am new to this. My dear mother-in-law has recently been diagnosed with bronchial alveolar carcinoma. She starts Chemo today. We have so far been given no real answers to the big question we all have - how long has she got and how sick is she gonna get with Chemo???? She seems so well (apart from a cough) so it is hard to get my head around it. I lost my own mum 3yrs ago to cancer of the endometrium and she was well too but had passed away within three months of diagnosis. My...

Hi all, I'm still in a weird mood lately, I think with Mum's op and everything coming it's definatly starting to hit me....I cant really deny the fact anymore that Mum's got Cancer. I am blubbing nearly everyday (And that's not like me!) I want to kill everyone i see or talk to, I dont want to get out of bed and i have the sudden urge to get very heavily drunk all the time. So with me feeling like this...God Mum must be feeling bad!! I just had this sudden urge to clean the kitchen so i did (But...

    Jokes and all
I have just caught up with today's blogs. From the heated comments, is seems more than a few feathers have been ruffled. It is encouraging to see that so much good sense has prevailed and if anything positive can result from the sorry mess, it is that we all need to be sensitive to others' feelings when posting on the site. I first posted almost a year ago, in the depths of despair when my husband was given a terminal diagnosis. I have come to realise that we all have different needs at different...

    MRI results back.
MRI results back today at last. Tumour is bigger than at first thought, is 3.5cm with ill defined edges and appears to have grown (knew it!) since the last time I saw him 2 weeks ago. To me that doesn't sound good! Said my options were, chemo first to try and shrink it then have excision, or mastectomy (which he recommended, as high grade and invasive) Also said they could reconstruct there and then, or later. Advised against instant reconstruction as if have radiotherapy could cause problems to...

    a leetle update
Afternoon all, Well the Consultant rang back this afternoon. I will be hearing from hospital with an appointment for next week for the fitting of the hickman line. Surprise was that they're keeping me in and starting the IVE chemo the following day. This involves 3/4 days being hooked up. If everything goes well, they'll let me out for 2/3 days then back in for observation when my bloods drop. There'll be a CT scan after the first cycle to check it's having the desired effect. After the 2nd cycle...

    Triple Negative
I found out yesterday that i am 'triple negative' so will not be receptive to Herceptin following chemo and surgery. Having read up on this am still none the wiser really as to how i will be treated , if at all, in the future???? Also have read about how you can test as being 'negative' when you are pregnant as you have so many hormones frolicking in your body anyway. So uncertainty still reigns - until i speak to lovely Dr Jones in 2 weeks. ???? Sally Determined to fight this.... :b...
