    Ileostomy Reversal, carer/wife's perspective
Any tips? The consultant might have joked that my husband is his fast track patient and let him out on the 2nd day post op, but..OMG - M has now turned into a man size, 9 month old, with mulitple urgent bowel movements(bm's) I feel so sorry for him, I didn't know the body was capable of so much output from so little input. Had yet another rough night (had broken sleep for last 6 days), managed to get off to sleep 6.30am, up for 3 bm's 8.30, still sleeping now and its about 10.30am, when he wakes...

lazy day yesterday - washing, pottering, reading then decided to go for a walk to see a couple down the dale who'd invited us over before my treatment starts up again. Opened the door and it's pissistently raining. Again. So we drove. Had a look round their house - it's a longterm barn conversion - but the barn is right next to the house he and his family lived in for generations. Dad sold up when his wife died and moved away and son bought a pile of stones! They've been doing it as they could afford...

    Clearing the air...
Dear Mates, Thank you for your input on how to break the news to kids about cancer. Your personal stories made it easier for me to talk to my daughter. My husband and I sat down with our 9 year old daughter last night. She took the news in and gave me a hug. I borrowed here and there from your stories and wove one of my own. I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I start chemo on September 10th and feel better about starting the treatment because I no longer feel like I am...

Confused mind - going mad !!
I wish I could get my head together and sort my mind out.One minute im crying the next im ok. I know, full well that my Dad died, I was there. But it does'nt seem real to me. I cant really comprehend that hes gone. Am I in denial ? am I mad? I expect to go to his house and hes still there. Been sorting through my photos of him tonight and when I look at the photos pre cancer which was only 10 months ago, I see Dad, Dad who's always been there, Dad which part of me thinks is still here. Still feeling...

    Finally
Finally my Bobbie has had his last lot of chemo on Friday, he has been wonderful and made it through 18 sessions, now to face the radiotherapy in a few weeks time. He is not looking forward to this at all. We have also been given a wonderful surprise, our children have booked us a holiday to Crete (Greece) and they gave us the tickets yesterday and we fly off on Tuesday, not got a thing ready, but hey who cares, they know I am the worlds most unorganised person going, so its going to be all hands...

My oncologist just released me because I'm doing so well (I'm 63) but my nipple has just started itching , is red and bumpy all of a sudden and I'm wondering if this is a come and go thing or if I need to get back in to see him. I went through radiation and have had some color change, hardness and shrinkage but this is all new. Anyone els had this problem?

    retail therapy...
Friday 28th August Well, friend came and we ate in on Thursday - they had the most delicious looking steaks and I didn't, haha. I've gone mostly vegetarian through natural inclination not 'choice'. Funny how we're drawn to different things - I've had a fish in batter phase, a noodle and cashew nut phase, a pasta and tomato phase, a strawberry phase... and at the time, they've all made some kind of sense. At the moment I'm on a fruit phase so, by my reckoning, I get every nutrient I need over the course...

    Not a good day
Im not having a very good day today. We went to order the flowers for Dad's funeral and one of the flowers I wanted one that Dad liked, Bella donna lillies, the florist had never heard of. How pathetic is that, although she did say she would speak to her boss. Took Mum to see Dad in the chapel of rest on Thursday. He looked peaceful but not entirely the Dad I knew and loved. I still cant believe he's gone really I keep expecting to see him walk by. I look at photos and see a different Dad to the...
