Jokes and all

Less than one minute read time.
I have just caught up with today's blogs. From the heated comments, is seems more than a few feathers have been ruffled. It is encouraging to see that so much good sense has prevailed and if anything positive can result from the sorry mess, it is that we all need to be sensitive to others' feelings when posting on the site. I first posted almost a year ago, in the depths of despair when my husband was given a terminal diagnosis. I have come to realise that we all have different needs at different times. Some of us are dealing with the worst of all news, other are celebrating good outcomes of treatment. The chance to share experiences with those who understand is priceless. Please lets go on supporting each other, and sharing joys and sorrows as the friends we have become.

...I'm a "terminal" who naturally gravitates towards people in the same awkward boat, but is horrified to be thought of as "thriving" on my condition, or indeed to be told to "get a grip" because, as you pointed out, most of us are here for understanding and the comfort of shared experience.

Have you heard about a device called the "Mosquito"??  Allegedly it emits high-pitched noises which are insufferable to teenagers (maligned as lawless thugs) so that they disperse when congregating in public places.  My instinct was, marvellous!!!  Why can't they invent one that can only be heard by ghastly intolerant right-wing people and ghastly intolerant left-wing people.  Who will then all b***er off and leave the world to lovely liberals like me???

Of course the answer is that the forcible displacement of people is not a solution.  I think this site's admins take a very civilised view of the spats outbreaks.  Pace the "let's all calm down" threads, we all need to air our grievances!  And although some of today's comments made my blood boil, ultimately I think that history has shown us that banning people is not the answer until all diplomatic avenues have been explored.

Vive, as they say, la difference....
