    The story so far ...

Hi there everyone, been reading everyone else's blogs for a while now and have been laughing and crying along with all of you.  You are all so brave!

Have edited this blog down from yesterday - did get it out of my system, but felt I had given too much info!  LOL

So here is just the short version..... Mum had bowel cancer 2 years ago.  Had tumour removed and has been fine up until last routine scan which showed a shadow on her ovary, near to the part of the bowel where the cancer was.  She will...

    3 days on...

    Monday, October 5th 2009

It's only been 72 hours since the op and apart from the many tubes/drains coming out of his body you would never know he's had a major operation (and a small one). This morning, he was able to shower (sitting down) and shave himself. He no longer needs the oxygen but still has the saline/sugar/pottasium drip and the magical push button for pain.

He's had a couple of lows during the last 2 days all mainly to do with irrigation of the stents and catheter. At one...

    Hi,

I am not very good with finding my way around web sites and have no idea if I will ever find my way back here.  I have managed to get to add my name to the list of others petitioning against car parking charges and hope it  helps.

I'm 53 and was diagnosed with bladder cancer last October.  CIS and a Ta (grade 111) tumour which was removed.  I have had 3 lots of BCG washouts and bladder mapping.  I see my Consultant again tomorrow to hear the results of the last lab test and broach the subject...

Update, good news, problems and happy news xx
Wednesday 23rd September – CT results, it was good news – very good!  Dad’s lung tumours had shrank so all set for chemo on Friday 25th Sept.  I can’t even describe just how happy we all were, my sister me and Dad were there together.
Friday 25th September, I took Dad for his Chemo, the nurse was worried about his breathing so called the doctor.  She suspected blood clot on his lung, we didn’t get out of hospital until 20:00 hours, such a long day!  Had to take dad back...

    delight to fear

2 weeks ago got the news I had been waiting for no further spread of cancer and secondary mets have not changed. This morning I have woke up and found new lump in my leg scared to go to doc's to see if it is related to my cancer. Has any body eles experianced swollen lymph nodes in legs ? I am also suffering from extreme muscle spasams and thought these two could be related !

    Results are in

Well had to wait nearly 1 hour over stated appointment time, do they not realise just how stressful it is, if I had been attached to a ecg machine Im sure they would have had me in intensive care. Finally the sicky feeling has gone I now know what the results are. Hope this makes sense to some of you cos it made my head spin a bit....grade 2 cancer but nodes showing clear, consultant fantastic explained that it would have to be removed plus a node clearance followed by radiotherapy. The next thing...

Not as good as I thought I was !!!

I thought I was doing ok over the past couple of weeks but all alone last night I thought i'd sort out some photo's of Dad to put in some frames that I bought. Major blub session!! The reality that Dad's not here in body anymore came over me and had to put the photo's away cos I did'nt want them to get wet. The guilt came again of maybe I could have done more. If I'd pushed the doctors earlier Dad may still be here. Dad should be here, he was so fit before this damned cancer...

  • can the government make things any harder?
Why attack those who can't always fight back?

The government are now talking about cutting incapacity benefit and making people go back to working, with terminal diagnosis, unable to stay awake most of the day who'd employ me? let me take time out for chemo side effects, days of sickness etc? Do this government really care about us? I DONT THINK SO.

Just letting off steam, I had to fight for funding for my chemo drug so I guess it's just another problem they want to put in our way!

    Day 21 Bertiebassetts Return Journey

Good news the Ct scan was normal. Thank goodness. Bert is asleep, bearing in mind that he says he never sleeps. He is feeling better and I am having a day off work so I think I will go and treat myself to a new hairdo if I can wangle an appointment

Well its finally here today is the day I get my results. I am feeling eerily calm (dont know if thats a good or bad sign) but I guess I am just grateful that the waiting game is now over and I can finally get out of this twilight zone.

I will post to you all when I get back.

Hope you all have a good day.

    take care Love Terri xxx
