So, its apparently good news. I thought mum was 'doomed'. That was my initial fear. Its definately not good, but all is not lost.
Mums cancer has spread to her bones, round her chest cavity, into her legs, her spine and into her head. Thats the joy of stage 4. When we were told on Sunday night, all I could do was cry. But they got back from the oncologist today and we've been told they're going to try blasting the cancer in her spine and head.
This will not cure mum but it will...
Dads leg is sore all the time and swollen, he has a physio appointment at the hospice tomorrow, from what I have heard from some of my nurses they say they will strap his leg for the swelling build up which is caused by the blocked lymph node.
His district nurse got in contact yesterday, she has just taken over his case. It still gets me when someone says how frail my dad is as its a word I never thought I would use but that describes him to a tee just now. So I now have both the district nurse...
Well it was sunny when we came out ! A gorgeous warm coppery Autumn Day.
Carrying on with my journal. It's been a hard & low fortnight, but today my shoulder feell a bit lighter. Sister has had her scan/ultrasound for the Pelvic area & try as they could they didn't find anything - nowt on the ovaries.
She came out much happier - 1 less thing to worry about she said. She has been so down - depressed / despairing, lack of sleep with panic / anxiety attacks on waking. Feel better she...
Hi,
My mum was diagnosed with lung cancer 3 weeks ago. At the time, we thought it was just a small tumor on her lung but were then told it had spread to her spine and so was stage 4 lung cancer. Even at this point we were resolute not to give up hope, especially as we were told that the cancer was particularly receptive to chemo. A week ago, however, my mum's oxygen levels fell through the floor( day before chemo started) because the tumor was blocking her left lung and so there was an infection. Now...
Well Im new to this site. I was drawn to here by the warm supportive messages I read.
Cancer has played a big part in my family for a fair few years now.
My nan had a long yearly battle with breast cancer but one the battle but sadly lost hir life due to an attack of bone cancer.
That was 3 years ago she passed away.
Then my grandad got prostate cancer and skin cancer but currently has been sucesful in his battle.
But sadly there is a 3rd family member that has been affectedby cancer my loving dad...
Earlier on today, my Nan was diagnosed with womb cancer.
I knew that it was a possibility but after me having cancer, I didn't really think that it would happen to anyone else in my family. I don't think that it's hit me yet really, it's weird. It brings back a lot of memories of the time I was diagnosed, Nan came over and handed me the ring binder (which is the exact same colour, size. etc as I got given) and I opened it to see the name of her oncologist. Dr T- my oncologist! Weird. But anyway,...
I arranged with my boss to have a few days off work to get used to my mums stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis. I have to admit to feeling like a bit of a fraud, mum seems okay just now and we had a great day together, just drinking tea. Was thinking about going back to work when I totally randomly burst into floods of tears. So thats why I need time off. I think i'm fine and then I'm not.
I'm supposed to be strong for my family. I'm usually the one who keeps the troops together. I'm the fixer...
My dad was diagnosed with mesothelioma on the 31st July. So far he's doing okay. He's had his second lot of chemo so feeling quite tired and sick sometimes but trying to keep positive.
My mum isn't doing so well. She went to see a therapist today which helped a wee bit but we'll see as the sessions go on how it really helps, if any. I try to get her to talk to me but she doesn't want to burden me with her feelings too.
My sister has got them so upset tonight. She lives down...
