    Telgirls dance with cance.....15

With all the best intentions in the world, had a lovely relaxing bath and settled down to get a good nights sleep..........4,30 am and I am still awake.

When hubby woke me just wanted to tell him to cancel the appointment and leave me in bed, but managed to drag myself out and get going. Got to the hospital 10 minutes early then had a 40 minute wait. My consultant wasnt there today but I was seen by one of his crew (very nice man) who I had seen on the ward the day after my operation. He explained...

Thought I had gotten away with it - but the sarcoma got me again!

    Hi

I'm really not too sure what all this 'blogging' is about but I'm looking for some company!

I have just been diagnosed with a series of metastases in my spine and possibly in my lung.  (I have been through surgery to stabilise my spine and can't remember what I was told, and what I dreamt!!)  Hopefully I will find out more next week when I see the Oncologist.

I was so sure it was all cured and 5 weeks of radiotherapy was the worst I was going to get - I'm trying to be positive...

    Finally

Finally today we have heard that there is a bed for dad in the hospice, he is to go in tomorrow.  He is in a lot of pain today, the doctors have been out twice this morning, they have given him a injection which I presume is painkillers so he is sound asleep just now.  The skin on his legs is starting to crack and they think there might be a bit of a infection there so they have started him on antibiotics, if he is still in pain when he wakens up mum just has to call the GP out again and they may call...

    xmas without Dad

Hav'nt been on for a while as  i've been doing ok.  Different matter today though. I've been a bit tearful for a few days now, missing dad like mad. The thought of xmas without him is unbearable. Everywhere you go now theres cards for 'Dad' theres xmas songs playing in the shops. Dad used to love spending xmas with us and our kids and I always do the whole xmas dinner being the perfect hostess. Although i've been good and done most of my present shopping the thought of xmas day and dinner without...

    after steroids

Does anyone know how long it takes for steroids to get out of your system? I stopped taking them a month ago and was waiting for a dramatic weight loss (after my dramatic weight gain while on them)! I still have a 'moon face' and bloated stomach-which could be due to all the food I consumed while on them. I still feel very nauseous and am going to try acupuncture today to see if it helps.

    the story so far....

dad got cancer the first time about 7 years ago, it was just a couple of bits on his vocal cords, they scraped and then gave him radiotherapy, and then it was gone.

about 20 months ago they found he had cancer of the esophagus, his throat had been closing up very quickly and he was having trouble eating. annoyingly months before he'd asked his doctor if he could have this, but the doctor just told him no, didnt look, didnt do any tests. if the guy had just given dad a barium test, he would've seen...

    Just a wee thought!!!

So often people with rare cancers join our community and feel so lost as nobody responds to their blogs, eg Parmitage.

I know that this can be hard because we know nothing about their cancer type and therefore we feel that we have no answers to give them so how about a "wee hello" for support!

    Thankyou,

    Big hugs to everyone
