    (11) All I want for Christmas ....

    ... is my bubble back!

It's gone. Don't know where but I wish it would come back. Maybe it hasn't gone completely and is just deflated and sulking under the sofa or something. But I want it back please.

It's a very useful bubble. Some days it's a bouncy hopper type bubble and we just bound through life together. Other days it becomes lots of little bubbles that fizz around and keep me laughing. Occasionally my bubble acts as a cushion and takes the edge off the not so nice stuff that...

There is a Vibe in the Soup: Part III

There’s a Vibe in my Soup III:
The Meddlesome Wife is having a little problem knowing what to do with herself.  Having practically polished off everything in the fridge in a fest of guilt-free, fast and furious eating, she is twiddling her thumbs. There is no soup-stirring going on.  The house is still.  The dogs snore.  The rain, depressingly, falls ...

Stop fighting for critical illness pay-outs
When Macmillan Cancer Voice Inga McVicar was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, she expected her critical illness insurance policy to pay her bills until she could resume her self-employed career as a marketing consultant.  But her insurance company refused and it took Inga thirteen months of argument before the Financial Ombudsman told her insurance company to pay up.
Macmillan hopes that people will no longer need to fight their insurance companies. Today, the Law Commission will reveal its proposals...

    Advent Update

Well, it's been a bit of a mixed bag, as these journeys often are.

Round four was a few weeks ago, and round five was due on Friday. However round four had been a very rough ride, and my darling has been very sick and not eating much. The consultant could tell that he had had a rough ride and was concerned about his weight loss and so has given us a fortnight off chemo to recover and gather strength.

We have the dreaded review scan on 15th December, and final chemo of the year is scheduled...

    Nearly Christmas

It's less than two weeks to Christmas now, and all the family are pushing the boat out and rowing home to be here together.  I don't know if that's because I went through all of this trouble this year... but it probably is.  Anyway, the table will be full, and they will eat their fill, and I will watch with delight as I drink my Ensures.  Yes of course I would rather have a Christmas dinner and lots of chocs and other Christmas goodies, but I can't and that's just how it is, no point in...

    Karen's Catch-Up #9

    Friday 11th December

Rang the day unit and, sure enough, had to go in. The third day in a row. I know we're lucky to be able to just go in and get treated but I really didn't want another 4/5 hour day at hospital. My mood has been 'simmering' for a couple of days and totally slumped on the way over because I'd had to miss a couple of rare nights out recently because of colds - either mine or other people's. I'm really tired of doing everything I can to minimise risk only to...
