    Update 16/12/09

Theres not been much change today dad is still pretty unresponsive today, they have moved him into a room by himself which means I can pop over on my lunch break to see him now instead of waiting till half 5.  He opened his eyes a couple of times and slightly acknowledged we was there he was mumbling but nothing coherent.  Today is another day we will see what happens.

    Telgirls dance with cance.....24

Had a crap night, felt lousy and quite a lot of pain but refused to take any pain killers because in my head that would mean I am going backwards and thats not allowed.

Woke up feeling just as rough so just bumbled about all morning then took son to nursery (he had to go as it was the second performance of their christmas production which I was due to attend) then back and had a lie down to see if that helped. Time was ticking away and fast running to the time I would need to leave to get to the...

    stable

No - not the sort with ox and ass. Ali is stable six months after diagnosis of inoperable pancreatic cancer. She is enjoying very good quality of life - still doing her Arabic Dance and doing lunch with friends. The first month on steroids she was high as a kite but now has dose sorted so she is not high but not feeling sick either.

We haven't a clue how long we have left and clearly don't forget it but have managed to make a quiet life together in the face of it.

    I am having pre-bereavement...

    help and advise

Hello, I need help in understanding the side effects of radiotherapy given to a person who has had cancer in their neck.  I am a carer, my husband has cancer in one of the lymph node at the base of the neck on the left side.

He was first diagonised with cancer in April 2007, at that time it was found in lymph nodes in the chest and was treated with chemotherrapy and radiotherapy.  He recovered well after the first treatment, but his cancer returned this April.

Since July he has had extensive course...

    2nd blog attempt!!!!!!!!!!

Well first attempt abject failure got that wrong and didnt actually write anything in the main body of the blog, oh well on a learning curve here hopefully will get it right next time.

Wanted first blog to be happy blog, but circumstances dictate this not to be.  Have nodular melanoma diagnosed at end of Sept 09, rollercoaster of appointments, scans surgery etc since then, what happened to my life, where did that disappear too might I ask?  Anyway told CT was clear, however on seeing the oncologist...

    Trying times

Dad seems to have taken a turn for the worst, he took ill on Sunday and went to his bed early and didnt want visitors that night.  Yesterday he was sleeping again when I was in, he just wasnt himself and we left early to let him settle in bed and sleep.  I called the hospice this morning as usual and they said he was worse he was now hooked up to a drip and on antibiotics for a infection he also said that the doctor needed to see me and mum today which I found unusual because we had a appointment with...

    Cheating

I made a quasi mince pie...no raisins...okay, pears and apples but I get to call it mince because I made it and I needed to think I did something different.    And when I get off here I have to wrap gifts.  If my family comes to see us sooner than I expect, I won't be ready.  But then who am I kidding??  I still don't have my tree up.  By the time it goes up it will have to come down...but then...if I am the one putting it up,  it can stay up as long as I want.  I actually don't have the energy for...

    Telgirls dance with cance.....23

Today was my pre chemo visit and it wasnt as bad as I had thought it was going to be.

The staff were all lovely and the nurse who talked me through the procedure and side effects was brilliant. I mentioned that the oncologist had said that the chemo could start after christmas and she said she would have a look and see what she could do. I mentioned that the site of my operation was a bit sore and weepy and she managed to get the oncologist to have a look and he confirmed that there was a slight...

    Mesothelioma

     Hi all,

After months of my dad suffering dramatic weight lost, getting lost and confused whilst driving and my brother and sister having to go and collect him because he didn't know where he was - we finally managed to get him to go to the doctors.  Following further blood tests, x-rays, lung biopsy and a CT Scan, my dad was diagnosed last week Tuesday with Lung Cancer and we have been told that it has also spread to his Lymph Nodes, stomach (Kidney and Liver) and that the fluid around the lung...

    downhill

Clive had some friends over on Friday and since then has been feeling much worse. His back ache has moved to the shoulder blade again, and keeps being sick, he has been unable to evenkeep water down at times. We have phoned the oncologist today and will see him tomorrow. He can't go on like this. One weetabix is about all he has eaten each day for the past 3 days.

My insides are permanently in knots and I am so scared he will have to go in hospital and not come out. What am I going to tell...
