There is a Vibe: But where is the soup?

Suddenly our principal characters are thrown off the cast of the homely, Saturday night drama, the put-on your-slippers-and-relax type, and find themselves in a very alternative ‘Hammer Horror.’
(Is that a knock at the door? Should I let whoever it is cross the threshold?  Give me the garlic, the blond wig, and give me the cleavage.)
Our Hero now finds himself in the rather strange situation of having to live like a vampire, but without the necessary bite.  He has to keep all...

Infected Arm - IV "Needle Slip"

Whilst having IV chemo on 21 Dec 09, I had a "needle slip" which meant that for a short period Cetuximab was going into the tissue of my arm instead of into the vein.  Ever since then my arm has been swollen and uncomfortable and about two weeks ago it became red, hard and really painful.

I'm currently on the third type of antibiotics, none of which have helped.  At my insistence I've been prescribed codeine for the pain, which I am taking every six hours along with ibuprofen and paracetamol...

  • My story so far
    Hi to all

Last April I stood at the end of my son’s hospital bed staring stupidly at the junior doctor trying to figure out why he thought my son seeing an oncology specialist was a good idea, surely he would only want to see cancer patients … ohh!

Stage 4 sacral diffuse large B cell Non Hodgkins Lymphoma with bone marrow involvement. So the rollercoaster began.
At 2 in the morning he underwent an emergency laminectomy to remove pressure on his spinal nerves and prevent paralysis. With...

THE FINAL CHAPTER STARING PATIENT AND WIFE AND FEATURING THE WEATHER
Early morning on the day before treatment, Patient and wife having packed warmest clothes and thermals, surf the internet for details of flight delays, or cancellations on the Birmingham to Frankfurt route. None are posted, both airports are said to be operational, even though it is snowing in Frankfurt. Two hours later snow is still falling in Frankfurt, but now, to meet the check-in time, they need to leave for Birmingham. The house secured, luggage loaded into the car, our intrepid travellers...

    Movement at last?

Yesterday I still hadn't heard anything about my stay in the Royal Free!

I spoke to the Dr at the hospice, and also my psychologist. The psychologist suggested phoning the lymphoma nurse, rather than my consultants secretary, as i've already been on contact with the secretary and had no luck!

Jane (Lymphoma Nurse) was great. She went to find Adam, the Dr who deals with trials, who instructed someone to e-mail the Royal Free. By the end of the day, they still hadn't heard anything from...

There is a Vibe in the Soup: Part X

There is a pearl after all ...

A little over thirty years ago, just before her wedding,  a pearl fell out of the M/M/M Wife’s economy engagement ring – it was a Ratner-type ring and those who remember what Ratner said about his products will know that the ring was of questionable quality.  M (etc) Wife was a student and Our Hero was working backstage at a theatre and, therefore, expensive engagement rings were not an option.
After a dab of glue (I think it was the type that...
