  • How I feel
    can't sleep

I can't sleep!!  Bob has a difficult decision to make in the next few days, that's if they can give him any more radiotherapy, we find out Tuesday.  Does he go ahead and take the risk of the side effects or just stop treatment. Which ever option it's not looking good as cancer spread in his brain has become very aggressive now. It's pants and i want it to go away!!!!!!!!

    Where to start

I have been struggling to get my head around things over the last few weeks, I am hoping that this will help.

Me and my mum are very close and I thought the worls was going to end on Wednesday 27th January 2010.

She had not been feeling well since June 2009 and the doctors kept on telling her that she had a bladder infection and she kept on taking the antibiotics they were giving her and didn't question them. Over Christmas she wasn't herself, the bright and bubbly person who was allways game for...

    Today was platelets day!

    Hi all

Today I had to go for my usual weekly visit for platelets - normally this is a Wednesday but I am going to Western General in Edinburgh tomorrow  as I am starting a trial.  I now have to get 'washed plateletes' as just before New Year I took a reaction to ordinary platelets - in that I felt my ears start to tingle and was itchy all over - within seconds my ears had swollen up (I looked like Dumbo) and I had this horrible itchy rash all over - I could also feel my face and lips start to swell...

    Counts climbing

Well had my quarterly visit to Western and an older BCR-ABL test came back, the counts are doubling every 3 months. She raised concerns and had more tests done. Got a letter in the post, bcr-abl counts on the rise.  How strange is that, having been on glivac for 7 years, and a higher dose over the last 2 years, surely it should come down?  Had  major panic and imagined all sorts of horrors, and bizarrely started with all sorts of unusual side effects, including a rather large tummy, I look pregnant. Thankfully...

    9th Feb 2010 Bertiebassett

Yesterday Bert slept all day , in fact he has been sleeping most of the time since Saturday. but he awoke a little aggressive again,so had to be sedated again. Today he woke with a temp and his catheter was blocked so he was in agony. after yet more morphine as he threatened to start throwing things about I have noticed that that aggression gets much worse when he is in pain,  They took the catheter out for a while and he managed to go without the pain. But he is asleep again. We are still hoping...
