I spoke to the consultant at the Royal Free on Friday (26th March) - no update - we are STILL waiting for funding from my local PCT.
I also had a meeting with the local Central Advocacy Services on Friday - and i'm hoping they can get in contact with my local PCT and find out whats happening. They agree that the time i've been waiting is too long, and not acceptable. So lets see if we get anywhere!
I had my second dose of Vinblastine today. Once again 4 attempts to get the cannula in...
I have to be at the Royal Marsden at the crack of dawn tomorrow to have my mask made. Then back in the afternoon for my first blast of radiotherapy to my brain. Only five sesions in all but they have warned me that as it is my whole brain my hair may fall out!!!!. The treatment MAY bring back the feeling in my left hand, but no promises.
So if anyone else says "IT WAS ONLY a MOLE" please may I thump them?
Please wish me luck,
Gill x
Jim's wife rang yesterday morning. He's had some more problems that are keeping him in hospital still. It sounds like its the same thing Mike had a while after he was discharged. It might be rather fortuitous for Jim that this has happened while he is still in hospital, so they can fix him up before he goes home. He's able to walk around OK using a stick and all of the hardware had been detatched from him too by the sounds of things.
It seems he's a bit down in the dumps too poor thing...

Hello everyone
I am sitting here absolutely helpless while my Mum and my brother meet the oncologist for the results of Mum's last MRI and pet scan (they are with him right now). I am really really nervous for her. I have always been able to fly over to be with Mum for these visits, but things on my personal front are rock bottom right now, (my marriage), so I haven't been able to go this time. Let's just hope that the news is good. She so needs good news. Please please please may the news be...
I am a first year art degree student (mature) who was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago. I would like to speak to other people who have felt that an everyday object or routine has helped them...
My art has involved how everyday objects can become very important in helping you cope with cancer. It has become away of me processing the shock of diagnosis and treatment. I use a variety of mediums but particularly enjoy drawing, I also use a method call cyanotype which gives a beautiful blue image.
Honey, I am missing you as always. I havebeen thinking of you so much lately, especially as it was your birthday. I have started to sort thro some of your clothes. This was so hard. You are disappearing from so much of my life. You are no longer on the bills, on the car insurance, telephone listing, etc. I really dont want to forget you. I am so scared that I will forget what you look like, what you smell like, how your eyes twinkled when you were enjoying yourself. I miss your strong arms around...
