Where would we be without hope? We all need some. Whether it’s hoping for a good day tomorrow, hoping for happiness, success or health for ourselves, family and friends or hoping we pick the right numbers on the lottery! Thanks to the hope of others I’ve had a very “easy” day of chemo today. No driving for over an hour to the hospital and another hour back again. No waiting for the inevitable delay in treatment in a large oncology department. Was my treatment handled any less professionally...
Thank you all for your kind wishes for today. They really helped to cheer me up. Had my mask made this morning then had a four hour gap when I went to visit a friend for lunch. Back to the Marsden for the RT. No problems at all and still feel fine. Apparently because I am on steroids I may not get bad side effects but the hair will go!!!!
I am so greatful I am being treated at the Marsden - brilliant place. I have often wondered if anyone in the waiting rooms was from on the site - have to have...
Hi everybody,
Does anyone know whether a port a cath has to be removed before RFA can be done on the lungs? I've asked at the hospital but the surgeon doesn't know and the onco is away
Any info will be appreciated.
Jen
been a long day mums got a rash been for the bone scan but she had the rash before so it can't be that .went straight to the docs after hospital and she's unsure what it is and phoned the cemo unit as mums got to start taking her steroids tomorrow ready for thursday and she doesn't want her taking them if her treatment won't go ahead .so sat here now waiting for the call just hope its nothing that will delay her treatment any longer fingers crossed.
had the diagnosis, tomour in lower bowel, invasive, done CT/MRI scans, blood tests, go the schedule na hd the tatoo.
Today base line blood test, then collected Capecitabine (Xeloda®) tables, 1650m, twice daily, seems like rather heavy dosage to me, but what do I know. Apprehensive, oh yes, but prepared my body/soul with Bowen techniques, and assorted other treatments to be sure as relaxed as physically possible. Tomorrow is the first radium treatment, so another first. been through the side effects...
Dad has just called me to say he has been told he had 2 years to live. I am determined to help him beat the ticking time-bomb!! xxx
His story so far....
My dad is living with a brain tumour which until very recently was thought to be benign. It is now asuumed to be a higher grade. Today he is meeting Dr Matt Grffin at Nottingham City to discuss radiotherapy. Everything seems very scary at the moment....
My father lives in Mansfield and I live in Southampton so its tough being so far away.
How my jounrey...
Hi all, well am having the day off work today. Had a sore throat this morning and since the period of low blood levels is starting tomorrow, I thought it best to have a rest. I am not too bad otherwise. Energy levels are fairly good. I've had an on and off poppy tummy and that embarrassing burping, though I think that was down to the anti sickness drugs as certainly the last couple of days since I came off the drugs seems to have calmed that down a bit.
So, just watching myself lots at the moment...
Not been posting progress of my Mum - just been to horrendous to try and put into words.
She had 2-3 months in hospital for treatment and got home just before Christmas and gladly the tumour had reduced a lot, but then has had 3 x 4-weekly R-Chop treatments. She has her scan today then her review next week - so scared and feel really selfish because my mum has fought the whole way and been so positive - has had some bad days but hardly any considering what she's been though.
I suppose all we...
just sat on the sofa today having a coffee and chat to mum and she starts telling me what songs she want at her funeral nearly choked on my coffee i know she like's to be organized but this..... think maybe she's jumping the gun as yet we don't know the all the results .i know me and my dad used to talk about what he wanted when he past but he knew it would happen soon and didn't want to upset my mum and because we were so close it was just easier to tell me .but when it came too it my brothers and...

My consultant said chemo was not always effective against saracoma. I feel quite numb. I have 3 boys 16, 15, 12 and a lovely husband. Don't know how to start telling the boys about this. I...
