There can be miracles...when you believe???

I have to get up early tomorrow for a trip to the hospital for my CT scan.  The appointment is at 9.15 but I will have to get up before 8 so I can drink the Gastrografin in preperation for the scan.  For anyone who hasnt tasted this (you are very lucky) it tastes of watery aniseed and I hate it. It reminds me of Sambuca and thats not pleasant first thing in the morning.  I have to mix the gastro with a pint of cold water and sip one cupful every 15 minutes until its all gone.

    If you look back through...

    Update on my Caelyx journey

I just realised l had not finished with my updates so here goes.

I when on and had 6 sessions of Caelyx and then another Ct scan and then my oncologist didn' twant to see me for three months.

When l did see my Oncologist the news was not as good as hoped. My CA125 had gone down to 135 not under 35 as l had hoped. My Ct scan showed no changes.

What it boils down to is l could (should) be having chemo but because my cancer is slow growing and l am well and in no pain he wants to leave the chemo...

3rd Cycle of Chemo is here

To see this blog as it is intended please visit http://mumslungcancer.blogspot.com

How fast is this coming around? We are up to the 3rd cycle of chemo already, I think they have scheduled 6 in total, then a blast of radio therapy on the brain, as a safe guard measure as is likely to spread there next. I have brought my computer and am typing this while we are here! Up to now they have put her arms in water to make her veins more visable and also suggested that she has a top up of blood when she...

Riding the bus is so very hard...........

As a non cancer person (at least up to now!) I thought I'd write something about a very good friend of mine who I learnt this morning has lost her struggle against cancer.

Linda MacVev is a lovely lady and I count it very much a privelage to know her, even though she lost her battle last month she is and always will be a 'present-tense' person because she is in my memory and always will be.

I cried so hard for her this morning again, and it made me think of the one's riding the bus...

My darling Bobbie has lost his fight.

My darling husband passed away on Sunday 1st August. He fought so very hard right up until the bitter end.. I feel so numb just do not know what to do. He was the most wonderful husband  and father that anyone could wish for. Our lives will never ever be the same, my very best friend is not here any more. I feel so lost, people say stay strong for all the children. I shall try my utmost for them but other than that I feel my world has ended.  I cradled him in my arms until the very end and shall never...

  • Dad, cancer and me
    The beginning

So here I am, catching up to the sort of technical stuff most people take for granted, personally I'm much happier with pen and paper but there you go!

When Dad was diagnosed with cancer in his right lung and duodenum just before Easter this year I went into shock.  He had been ill with various things for years, sadly most of it as a result of self infliction, but the reality was that this was now something a short stay in hospital or some pills couldn't solve.

Mum had had cancer when I...

  • Ramblings of a Bad Fairy
    Woe is me.....

    …..but don’t despair!

It was the weekly jaunt to see the consultant today to get the ok for chemo this week and woe is me ….the little toe-rag is on holiday! Fancy that, holidays in August tut tut, how dare he. Mr Bad Fairy muttered under his breath about Dr Socks probably being on a yacht sailing to and fro between exotic islands. I was thinking more caravan at Cromer maybe?

After a mere two hour wait and numerous cups of tea I was summoned in to see the covering doctor...

    Re Protocols for Lung Cancer

Hi Re my post earlier in the week asking about protocols for Lung Cancer.

I was asking as my sister had told my mum that she had Lung Cancer, However the pieces did not fit and I was questioning what the Dr had told her apparently according to her the Consultant just told her it was there without doing any further tests. don't know whether to be relieved at the fact she does not have it or angry for the lies she told my mum who thought it would be a good idea to tell me. I have spent the past 2...
