Woe is me.....

1 minute read time.

…..but don’t despair!

It was the weekly jaunt to see the consultant today to get the ok for chemo this week and woe is me ….the little toe-rag is on holiday! Fancy that, holidays in August tut tut, how dare he. Mr Bad Fairy muttered under his breath about Dr Socks probably being on a yacht sailing to and fro between exotic islands. I was thinking more caravan at Cromer maybe?

After a mere two hour wait and numerous cups of tea I was summoned in to see the covering doctor. A quick chat and a glance down my throat was all it needed for it to be confirmed that the thrush birds are still in residence. Not as many but still lingering. So no chemo for this week. My liver function is relatively stable despite having last week’s dose cancelled so it wasn’t too hard to agree with the doctor that the best thing was to wait another week, speak with Dr Socks next Tuesday and see where we go from there (the Bahamas would be nice but I don‘t think the NHS would pay for that as a therapy!). The decision was helped along by my comment about not wanting to be admitted to hospital again and the doctor’s return comment that chemo can kill!

I don’t know how effective the limited amount of this chemo I’ve had has been on the cloudy tumours but it’s done the deed with my hair and nails. Each eye has about a dozen lashes left (yes I did try, unsuccessfully, to count them without poking myself in the eye). I do wonder why it is that even the bottom lashes when they fall manage to defy gravity and fall up into my eye. Why is that? My eyebrows are also doing their own thing. I could start yet another new trend here. For some weird reason I’ve lost a horizontal stripe right through the middle of one eyebrow. I now look like I have “go faster” stripes above my right eye! As for nails, let’s just not go there …. Mr Bad Fairy has been told he is the official scratcher and will have to scratch any itchy bits for me!!

Bless Mr Bad Fairy for wanting to do that for you.

Why don't they let you know when the consultant isn't there???? My Dad used to get so cross when that happened. He never wanted to see anyone else. How dare he take holidays in august!! lol !!

I hope you are feeling  ok (ish) and that you are sleeping a little easier. I don't think we have spoke much but i always read your blogs and you always manage to put a smile on my face....which is a hard thing to do lately. TC xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thank you pinkvicki. You're right, we haven't spoken much on here but I've also read your posts and know you've had a really tough time. To be able to put even a glimmer of a smile on a sad face makes writing the blog worthwhile.

I'm doing fine thanks and sleeping much better (no steroids!!). I hope you're doing ok too.

Keep finding those smiles if you can, even on the darker days.

    Bad Fairy xx

P.S. Mr BF says he doesn't exactly want to do the scratching .... he was told he had no choice!!!!

hello good fairy....and mr good fairy...

o yes the eyelashes..i didnt mind my hair falling out with me allways shaving it on a number one, i was quite peed of when it grew back again and i asked julie my chemo nurse if i could have another dose to keep me from having to pay a fiver to have my hair shaved ..

but my eyelashes are my only good point as everyone says iv got long eyelashes...

then theres all the dirt and grit ya get in your eyes with no eyelashes as well..

they didnt give you your chemo because of the thrush in your throat.....

hopefully it will clear up and youl be fine next week......

i use to hope they would find some reason as to not give me my dose but then im a big chicken..

once dr di silva wasnt there when i went to see him { my specialist } they gave me a chinese woman and i couldnt understand a word she said so i told my mac nurse i never wanted to see her again......and lucky enough i allways saw dr di silva after that in scarborough...

however i copped for same chinese woman in castle hill hospital and she tried to put the line in to my arm and up into a main vein..

the nurses went mad when i got back on the ward as the line was one hell of a mess.....see photo in my photos...

anyway.....you look after yourself...take care...put your feet up when need be and next week lets hope everything go"s as planned

hugs to you n your family...

Blimey and I was devasted with my 'Andy From Little Britain' hairdo courtesy of RT to the brain.  I am still left with a sparse spot that will require one heck of a combover if I live long enough for it grow!  But I kept everything else, my chemo was by tablet and pretty gentle compared to most of what I read.

Loving the eyebrow slash.......don't the bada$$ rappers and such sport those LOL

Here's kudos to Mr. Badfairy for picking up the slack on the jobs you can no longer do, even scratching....afterall....men are experts when you consider how often they seem to be scratching "one thing or another" ;)

Hoping and wishing you are well enough for your poison real soon.

    Love & Strength

    Debs xx
