    GET BETTER DAD
MY DAD WAS MOVED FROM LEICESTER INFIRMARY & INTO GLENFIELDS. HE REALLY WENT DOWNHILL BECAUSE OFF THE DRUGS HE WAS ON & THE SURGEON DECIDED TO OPERATE ON HIM YESTERDAY. MY PARTNER PAUL & I DROVE DOWN EARLY THURSDAY MORNING TO SEE HIM & ALSO BE WITH MUM. WHEN WE GOT THERE HE SEEMED LIKE THE MAN WE NEW BEFORE, HE WAS OUT OF BREATH MOST OF THE TIME BUT COULD TALK ALRIGHT & SMILED SUM OF THE TIME. THEY TOOK HIM AT AROUND 9:15 am & YOU COULD SEE IN HIS EYES HOW SCARED HE WAS. THEN IT WAS THE WAIT....

    need to vent frustration
And so it begins! I start radiation therapy next Wednesday, and I have to do that 5 days a week. and then start chemo next Thursday and that is once a week in 3 hour intervals. I'm scared, but trying to be optimistic. cancer seems to slowly rip away everything you know and strive for. first it took my modesty: (hard to be modest when you need help in the bathroom.) Then went my independence, (on so many levels)next was my social life and my job. my parenting ability and the list goes on! Its so frustrating...

    Going for gold.
First of all thank you for all your wonderful comments on my blog 6 months to live.Whilst I agree with all who said "Don't believe em," and "go for gold" its just a little difficult at the moment as I'm suffering from the side affects of the Radium treatment that they gave me because I responded so well to the Chemo. The cancer wasn't supposed to come back for possibly years, but as with everything that happens to me it decided to come back whilst I was feeling too rotten to fight. Macmillan Nurse...

    What's next?
Our 82 year old mother has declined surgery and chemotherapy. She just wants to go home to be with Jesus with as little pain as possible. She was told she had stage 3c, liver spots, lung fluid but stage 4 would not be declared without surgery. She's not a good candidate for surgery because of other health problems. We are trying to get a time frame of how much time she may have left so all the family can visit. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    6 mths to live.
Had to go back into hospital last week, finally allowed home on Friday 16th., with the very hard to hear information, that the cancer had come back with a vengeance, and to top it all off I had probably less than 3-4 months left to live. I've pretty much accepted this now, and believe it or not I am OK with it, I think my Mum and my Husband are being superheroes the way that they have been able to deal with it all. My Husband is 50yrs old and should be contemplating a retirement with me his wife...

    Pinky & Perky
Hi All Came home Monday - 6 days post op. Feeling a bit sore and tearful I think it is all catching up with me. I have to say I can't say a bad word against the NHS all the staff, treatment and care I have received. I observed several instances where people were rude and citicising the nurses and facilities - my opinion is if you expect better go private. I have had an LD flap recon and have named them Pinky and Perky. Guess which ones's Perky !! I am going to enjoy 4 weeks off at least from work...

    What now
Hi all As I have mentioned mum started chemo last Thursday few days before that she had an echo on her heart which she has to have before each cycle, anyway tonight she gets a phone call from her consultant and informs her that she has fluid around her heart, which maybe why she is having trouble breathing, so now she has to go for another echo to see if the chemo is helping to drain the fluid if not she will have to have it drained. What ever will it be next. Hugs to everyone xx

    secondary bowel cancer
hi im new to this site. my husband has had rectal cancer last year and now 9 months later they have found a small nodule on his lung. they wont commit themselves to whether they think its secondary cancer and are going to leave him another 6 months then scan him again. my question is why dont they just give him a pet scan to find out, i'm worried that its just financial reasons why they are leaving him. dont get me wrong i'm grateful for what they have done for him it just seems a bit hit and...

The importance of correct punctuation and meaning in written communication ...
I thought this might tickle you, especially tongue in cheek following a recent spate of misunderstandings in the written word! Dear John: I want a man who knows what love is all about. You are generous, kind, thoughtful. People who are not like you admit to being useless and inferior. You have ruined me for other men. I yearn for you. I have no feelings whatsoever when we're apart. I can be forever happy--will you let me be yours? Gloria Dear John: I want a man who knows what love is. All about...

    Chemo, lung cancer
I am starting chemo next week, 22nd Jan 2009, It is GemCarbo chemo. To clear any poss. cancer cells that are left, although I have been told there was no sign of any involvment of lymph nodes after surgery. There is still a chance there may be some floating around ! So this is to zapp them. Anyway, would like to hear from anyone who has had this or who would like some info of my experience of cancer. regards Lesleyflower x
