Pinky & Perky

Less than one minute read time.
Hi All Came home Monday - 6 days post op. Feeling a bit sore and tearful I think it is all catching up with me. I have to say I can't say a bad word against the NHS all the staff, treatment and care I have received. I observed several instances where people were rude and citicising the nurses and facilities - my opinion is if you expect better go private. I have had an LD flap recon and have named them Pinky and Perky. Guess which ones's Perky !! I am going to enjoy 4 weeks off at least from work and my husband's becoming quite a Gordon Ramsey. Love Caroline

    Hi Caroline,

Welcome home and enjoy the f***ing attention from your Gordon Ramsey husband!

    Best wishes Shelagh

    • Hi Caroline,

For most of my forty years of marriage my husband didn't even know where the kitchen WAS let alone how to open a can of beans. Then, when he retired eight years ago ,he announced he would take up cooking but specialize in exotic dishes, either Chinese or Indian. Well...step back in amazement, I nearly fainted! I said "Okay, but first you need to learn the basics, like boiling an egg."

Need I say.... it didn't last. However, when I was post-operative he did manage (under strict direction) to do a bit a reheating and some basic boiling of vegetables. As soon as I was recovered he was off out of the kitchen like a rat up a drainpipe!  He is forgiven because he is a whizz at DIY and gardening. To each his own!

      Get well soon,

      KateG

Top tip: Purchase a colour cook book with nice pictures in it so you can sit down together and go "Mmmm" together at all the nice recipies, choose something yummy then send him out to the shops, come home and cook.  Be sure to give out praise at appropriate points.  And insist upon pudding (unless you're having steroid weight issues like me).  Or have pudding anyway if you've gone past the point of caring about your weight (like me).

we can't all be good at everything, i masterd cooking years ago but i am crap at diy. but you won't get a pudding out of me if you want a pudding it will have to be a cake out of the shop or a pot of rice pudding lol
