  • Sew I have cancer!
    The fountain of blood

As its nearly Halloween I thought I'd share a nice gory tale. I wouldn't read on if you've got a vivid imagination and get queasy.

This past week hasn't been a ball. The only balls were the ones formed in each of the tumour wounds. As I had to see nursey for my pathology results this week, I thought I'd mention the swelling suture lines. After being poked and prodded by a doctor, I was told they were seromas and would just need time to settle. I was told to massage the wound with cream...

    Radiotherapy Roller coaster

Hi again hope I am not boring you with my journey but I have actually found this very therapeutic which I am shocked about because I use to hate writing but anyway on to the next phase the radiation blaster - as I called it but my mum kept saying radium no matter how many times you corrected her. It became the running joke with text messages between friends over my 3 weeks how is the radium going!

Along with my planning date I got a radiotherapy evening invite to come along and see what goes on....

    My story so far

The first step was a sentinel node biopsy. I had 3 lymph nodes removed, the cancer showed in the first, had started in the second, but wasn't in the third. Then it was decided that we would do things a little different, and next I was to have chemotherapy. This was done to buy a little time so I could have genetic testing done. I have had 6 sessions of chemo and have had FEC drugs. I also made the decision to use the cold cap/scalp cooler to try and save my hair. I feel that my age may have given...

The Journey so far (the facts)

So, I have chosen to write a blog, as things were going really well until this week...

    Back to the beginning

    May/June

My partner (Nic) and I had just moved house, after getting engaged at the start of the year. Things were going well, but I had the itch, everywhere. This itch would keep me up all night and I could not sit still in the evenings constantly needing to get-up take a stroll, undress and ITCH. It made me incredibly irritable and complete unable to function, taking me to the brink of exhaustion...

Recovering from the surgery roller coaster

After my surgery I was really lucky regard pain.  Although I did ask the anesthetist to give me enough to knock me out until everything was over!

I was told to take 2 weeks off work to recover from the surgery, although because I was feeling fine it was driving me nuts stuck in the house since the lovely 2" cut under my arm would not let me drive (this was the only pain at this point and I also think my boob fell out with me cause it was causing no pain). I will no longer joke about being a lady...

The start of the roller coaster - Diagnoses and surgery

How many of us have said these words.  i have decided I hate roller coasters!

The roller coaster started when I was brought in to the cold bland very small room to be told that I had breast cancer.  The roller coaster did not start right away it was as if it was nearly empty of fuel so it kept jolting me forward in small movements.

It was not until I had to go for an MRI that the coaster started to move up the hill while anticipating the unknown at the top.  The downward fall happened  when I was told...

They say things happen in threes'

Honestly, I couldn't make this up.

Another night, another email, another "friend" who is now not. This one really does takes the biscuit.

Like many people when they first get diagnosed, I shared the news with friends because I thought I should tell them and if I'm being honest, because I hoped they'd be supportive. I was soon inundated with text messages and emails that I found increasingly difficult to answer. So having read a wonderful post by someone who was obviously in a similar...

  • Cancer, Me and Them
The finish line is in sight....?

Been to chemo today, my penultimate session.

Having had an extra week off I was feeling really chipper.  Downside of that extra week off is that, my body seems to crash so much quicker when I do get the chemo, like today. As A pointed out a bit of a double edged sword.

I drove Bob there.  Couldn't find a disabled spot so had no choice but to park in multi storey where you have to pay and display.  £7.70 for over 5 hours.  My chemo takes 7 at least.  EEEEEE.  I decided to put £5.50 on for up to...

A Bollywood bag and a bad, bad temper tantrum

    Hands up, it was me.

After last weekend's misery, I've been left feeling angry. Partly because of inevitable frustration but mostly because of unthinking berks (if you weren't all so nice, I'd use a much ruder word).  But thanks to the lovely posters on my last blog entry, I now feel no duty of care to "friends" who seek only to obtain information of my medical status to satisfy their own needs.

I made a new friend this week, would you like to meet him? You might have bumped...
