    MRI Scan

Just 2 months ago we had a very encouraging MRI scan for my wife Barbara. The results showed a brightness around the site of the operation but the experts felt that was indicative of post operative activity rather than the return of the tumour. That was encouraging and Barbara was elated. That was November - now in January following 3 seizures she has had another  MRI which reveals that the tumour has returned. This is devastating news.

She has been so confused since these recent seizures...

    Worried Wife

In May 2014, my husband underwent the Ivor Lewis Procedure to remove part of his oesophagus after having Barrett's Oesophogus for a few years. Laser treatment had been previously tried but was unsuccessful in getting rid of the pre-cancerous 'nodes'

By April 2015, my husband had still not recovered from the operation; was continuing to lose weight, breathless and generally feeling awful. A scan showed that lymphoma had returned (after some 32 years!). He has been having intensive chemotherapy...

    Confusion

My wife had debunking operation 12 months ago. We read stories of longevity and journeyed in hope. It has been a tough year. There have been bright spots like a family holiday with our children and grand children. Short term memory problems have been an issue since diagnosis and so has confusion.

We hoped that radiotherapy and chemotherapy would significantly slow the advance of the disease. My wife was physically strong. On the day she took ill and was blue lighted to Hospital she had completed...

    Jena's Journey so far...

    Hey Everyone :).

My name is Jena and I'm 27(soon to be 28) and I wanted to share my journey with you guys.

I'd love to hear from others on a similar journey to me and for people to share their stories and advice to help us all through.

In June 2014 I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, the next few months until surgery on 1st September were full of appointments, scans, blood tests and meetings with DRs. It felt like a whirlwind and to be honest I don't think I realised what was...

    Feelings through chemo

Well here I am describing an illness I didn't want or need. July 15 I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer within 3 hours I had every test available and told to tell my family I have cancer. Going home was unreal how do you tell loved ones you got such an horrible disease. I told my partner first he was in disbelief took me three days to tell my mom that was the hardest we have such a long history of cancer in the family. How can a mom make you better she was helpless. I had my right breast off...

    6 Weeks after you left

I thought it was painful when you were here and I was anticipating and trying to prepare myself for you going.  But then I could walk in the room and hold you or kiss you or chat with you.  I can't do that now.  I thought I knew what real pain was - I had no idea.

I've the pile of laminate floor in my bedroom that I can't fit without you.  I can't do it.  You were doing it.  Its a constant reminder that you are never, ever coming back.

I've reinstated breakdown cover - remembering as I did...

    Eventful week

So the start of my week was finally saying goodbye to mum, funeral was amazing and such a lovely turnout, but so emotional. Family from afar wanted to discuss me and treatment but I wanted to remain focused on mum before I could face my situation. Amazing of them all to be so concerned though.

Tuesday saw an early start as needed to be at the hospital for 7.30am, after chatting with surgeon and signing all the forms it was time for the proceedures to begin. a coil was fitted into my tumour in an...

    Hi, I’m Shanie.

By day I work for the exciting world of IT, and most nights you will find me glued to my laptop watching Vlogs, Made in Chelsea or spending some much needed time at the GYM. Shopping is one of my favorite past times and you will usually find me eying up my next beauty...

    Respite of Sorts

We have had a week of calmness after some 8 weeks of what has felt like exhausting madness. this has been an 18 month journey with a short intermission at the end of 2014. The intermission was short lived and chemo started the summer of 2015. After the third cycle we had the message so many people must get but so few can be prepared for. When you're told "go home and spend what time you've got together" and given some morphine how are you meant to react? This was a few weeks before Christmas and...
