Hi All,
Don't often blog as I am miserable most of the time- just really hate the treatment but today I am feeling very cross. I went having decided to give up on the portacath which is excruciatingly painful and doesn't do blood anyway and to have a cannula in my arm. That was OK but they couldn't get any blood. They do the blood test before chemo and I wait about 20mins for the OK to do chemo. The nurse said she would bring another nurse who I just don't like, I said please try again but the other...
This has to be the most difficult thing i have experienced - and hopefully ever will!!
Been waiting since original diagnosis of oligodendraglioma (grade 2-3) for appt with oncologist. finally got it for Tuesday (21st). had biopsy on 16/08/2010 and theyve sent some of sample for 1p19q test - reslts shoudl be with oncologist next week. Till then, haven't a clue as to what treatment will be. just left to trawl various websites for info. hubby tells me off for this - says I should wait and speak...
today is my sisters birthday, she does not want to celebrate. She has been there for me as much as possible and her husband has had a bit of a nervous breakdown since my Mark passed away. It was not solely due to what happened to Mark as it was building even before we found out he was seriously ill but I am sure it didn't help.
I understand her feelings but feel that she needs a day for her. she has been worrying so much about me and her husband that i am now starting to worry about her. I wanted...
Ok so it's now been 10 days since we found out about Dad's brain mets and done what seems a lifetime of waiting although I know that that is only a drop in the ocean.
Haven't got much further forward altho Dad does have a really nice Mac nurse and we know that he is going to have a weeks RT to try and shrink the tumours.
CT scan was put back by a week so is now on Friday so we will find out soon I hope the full extent of the cancer.
After saying he has had no obvious symptoms apart...
sunday 12th sept - visit to the walk in centre as worried about the redness around the wound - is only contact dermatitis but the nurses have swabbed the wound to check for infections. wound is healing well but there are some areas at the top of the wound still open. told to stop the aquacell, although good for catchin...g the fluid it can also cause overgranulation, something we fought to stop 4 months ago. will get the swab result on thursday and hopefully will be negative for infection.
...My mum came home from the hospice on Tuesday evening. The doctors said she probably would only have a few days left. But she is still here with us. Her breathing is rattly now and she has a lot of phlegm on her chest. She has gone a pale colour and isn't opening her eyes now. She stops breathing sometimes and then starts again and the pulse is not regular now.
We are all spending as much time with her possible. We have been surrounded by family and friends for the last week. I am immensely...
Well I haven't been a member of the site for long and I haven't had much of a chance to post updates, but it saddens me more than I can ever say to report that the bravest, most wonderful woman lost her cancer fight on Sunday 5th September at The Beatson Oncology Centre in Glasgow...aged only 58 years young.
I love you mum, I hope you're in a more peaceful place now.
JEK.

Why does life have to be so unfair? Why do the good people have to die? If people treated each other fairly, there wouldn't be any wars, would there? Why do parents die and leave us with no one?
If life was fair, no one would die before their time! no one would become sick with cancer!.
Life just isn't fair!!!
Sorry I am quite angry today, 9 weeks since dad has gone and now a friend has died aged 33 after her heart gave way (no further explanations yet) while her 9 year old son was on...
Just when I was coming to terms with Dad's situation I get the news that my birth mother's cancer has come back, (hopefully caught it early).
BUT I MEAN, seriously,
How much is 1 person seriously expected 2 deal with b4 they go under? Even elastic bands can only stretch so far b4 they snap.
ARRGGGHHHH!!!!!
