Hello everyone, I hope you are all well as can be.. I've posted this to 'ask the nurse' section as well, any information from anyone would be greatly appreciated..
I had an endoscopy procedure done yesterday with 4 biopsies taken.. it was horrific in all honesty, and they want me to go back in 2 weeks to have another urgent one done.
A quick chat with the consultant afterwards implied there are no tumors, no ulcers but I have non erosive gastritis..
But here is my issue.. after our chat a nurse hands me my endoscopy report and it states diagnoses on the stomach section cancer and gastritis.
I called a nurse over and said does this mean I have cancer and she said yes.. and walked away. Now that would explain why they want me to have another procedure again.. as I've already been told I've got gastritis.
But the consultant never mentioned anything about cancer, he stated there was no tumors, so why does my report form state cancer on my stomach diagnoses?
I hate not knowing.. I can deal with knowing I've got cancer if it's the case but waiting for the biopsy and not knowing is driving me insane, especially as the consultant said to me one thing & the report says another..
Had anyone else had this issue?
I'll post a picture of my report without any personal details. I'd like to know what anyone thinks about what they think this means and how it looks..
Hi. This report is very confusing and contradictory. I would be inclined to ring the consultants secretary tomorrow and ask for an explanation. I would hope that if the word cancer has been used by mistake then the consultant would contact you as soon as possible. Hope you get this sorted soon.
Take care
Donna. X
Hi Donna.. I hope you are well.
I know! I couldn't make much sense of it.. I still can't. An error is possible, but unlikey due to a consultants experience, who knows.. I have a feeling that due to me having the sedation & my anxiety disorders they may have thought best not to mention too much, but I did ask if he found any tumors and he said 'no' .
I think I will wait a week for the biopsy results & question them then, it will be an anxious wait.
I can deal with the results either way.. my family on one side has all died of stomach cancer, I expected it one day. I am 31 and that is still okay with me.. considering there are others worse off , kids with cancer always gets me upset.
I'll wait a week.. give them a ring ask for the results and go from there, I have a feeling they will ask my GP to speak to me about it.
The just not knowing, plus the contradictions is causing me issues..
Plus the endoscopy was horrific, there was so much blood the nurse was suctioning out of my mouth I was bringing up I thought they cut an artery. I won't be looking forward to my next procedure, that's for sure..
