Hi, After being diagnosed with stomach cancer in Nov 2024, doing the 8 FLOT chemotherapies and having a total gastrectomy I was told I was in remission in Oct 2025.
The very next day I started bring my food back up.
What tends to happen is after about 3 mouthfuls I start to get pain in the middle of my chest then have to get to the toilet to cough it up. Pain sometimes goes after bring the food up but can last up to an hour with my going back and forth to the toilet. I am chewing my food and can happen with soft foods. I have had an Endoscopy which has shown a polyp on my surgical site, which is going to be removed, a barium meal hasn’t shown any mechanical problem and the surgeon doesn’t’ feel the polyp is causing the problem. They are going to do some further tests but don’t have any answers at the moment.
I remain positive but Energy levels are up and down so doesn’t help. It happens most days now so ribs and upper chest always sore.
Hi, I get it on the odd occasion now, but for about 12 months after my op I would get food stuck in the same place but not every time I ate… I would have to really keck it up and once up I was ok… but it would be for me eating too quickly and possibly not chewing to a mulch…
Its good to hear that you are having it investigated as it’s quite a regular occurrence for you and must be so uncomfortable…
Take care
Michele
