Hi Guys, wonder if anyone can advise?, 2 weeks tomorrow on the 8th Dec I was 25 minutes from ending Chemo No 4 in my current 6 treatment regime. I paid a visit to the toliet, stand and all, and on my return I felt what could only be described as the feeling of a needle going in very sharply and uncomfortable in my upper arm where my PICC line is. On looking at tit there was and egg shaped swelling to my lower upper arm, "think the wife calls these Bingo Wings". Turned out my PICC line had split internally and the chemo was leaking into my arm. The nurses and Oncology team worked rapidly to remove the PCC and look for advice from other professionals.
Since then I have been having really serious pain to the area, burning, pulsing throbbing etc, I am on paracetemol and ibuprofen pain relief which does work. My concern is there seems to be very little evidence of this to research, and from what I can gather this may last a while, months?? Can anyone advise or offer any positive thoughts for me to feast on?? I feel like I have dealt with my Cancer so well and this episode has a real chance of derailing me and my positivity. Thanks Dave.
