Just wanted to share a positive story.
My mum is in remission after being told in February 2018 that she only had 12 months to live with inoperable stage 4 stomach cancer!
To all those going through the same, please don't give up, there are now lots of options out there.
xx
Hi there
Thanks for posting such good news. As a mum newly diagnosed with the same, I would be very interested in any details of your mum‘s treatment or other ways in which she has taken care of herself.
Understand completely if you wish to keep this confidential however.
Many thanks xxx
Hi Tapstar
sorry you are going through this, those early days are very scary.
Mum was diagnosed stage 4 in Feb 18, she started chemo the following month, 6 rounds of EOX (I think, sorry I can’t check as she is on a much needed and deserved holiday) every 3 weeks. The first 2 cycles completely floored her and to be honest at one point there was talk of not continuing, cycle 3 they reduced the dose by 25% and she coped much better. From that point something changed in mum and she started to fight, she was so positive and I’m sure that helped massively. Her scan after treatment showed the tumour had stunk in her stomach and no sign anywhere else. She looked and felt great and enjoyed her life for the next 3 months. At her next scan the cancer was back in her lymph nodes but so small that they couldn’t measure it. The consultant recommended second line treatment. This time 8 cycles every 3 weeks, I think it was a slightly different regime but again I’m not sure what. Again mum was very positive and coped well with the chemo. It was amazing to be told she was in remission. Mum didn’t do anything special with her diet, she ate lots when she could and just tried to keep positive.
I really hope you and your mum are coping ok and I wish your mum all the best xx
Hi Ellabella29
Thanks so much for getting back to me. Your mum has been extremely courageous & it is great to know that despite initial problems she persevered with chemo & it had such good results.
This is extremely inspiring & encouraging!
I do hope your mum enjoys her well deserved holiday & continues to maintain her health
Thank you for sharing
Very best wishes xxx
