Hi all, Its my first post here. My mum has cancer and I am struggling to cope. Can anyone give me an idea of where to go to get help? I have been to my GP and its a 3-4 month wait for therapy (I am happy to go private if needed) but I was wondering if any of you have any pearls of wisdom of what type of help might help. My issues are that I just feel numb and distant but at the same time I can't stop thinking about it and what will happen in the future.
Many thanks
Hi and welcome to the community. though sorry to hear about your mother.
A big help to me when my wife was diagnosed was our local Maggies and I did a living with less stress course with them. If you use our in your area tool it can find support groups near you.
Mind offer a range of services that can be helpful too https://www.mind.org.uk/about-us/local-minds/local-minds/
Your reaction sounds really typical to me though and well done for reaching out. If you wanted to it can help to look at the group more specific to your mums type of cancer, the people there I am sure will be able to answer many questions you might have.
<<hugs>>
Steve
