Hi there, I don't live near my parents, but speak to them weekly, and my dad has been given a terminal prostate cancer diagnosis. I think my parents are overwhelmed with information, and between my sisters and i, we get snippets of information from them about treatment, meds etc. Will the Macmillan nurses talk to my sisters and i, if we can get permission from my parents? It's so frustrating, knowing that my elderly parents are not asking the questions that we would ask, they're not retaining the information, and not passing it to us.
Hi and welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to hear that your dad has been given a terminal diagnosis for prostate cancer. It must be a very hard time for you all and it's not surprising that your parents feel overwhelmed with it all.
If your dad gives his permission to his GP then he can discuss your dad's health with you and your sister. There's more information about this if you click here. I don't know if this would also apply to his Macmillan nurse so it might be a good idea to phone the Support Line on 0808 808 0000 to ask. It's free to call and they're available daily from 8am to 8pm.
If you'd prefer you can use the Web Chat instead of phoning. They are open the same hours as the Support Line.
