Is this about walking, or about something else?

Haven't written my blog in a while, not since we got back from Corsica nearly a month ago.  I was going to write a reflective, musing piece about the solace of walking, but this might turn into something else, as there are other, more pressing, things on my mind right now.  I was a great walker - John and I have done several long distance hikes in this country, we've been accustomed to doing long walks around the beautiful countryside here on a daily basis, and I've also done the Inca Trail and...

    Fertility after my husbands chemotherapy
Hi, My husband was diagnosed with ALL in 2011 and is coming to the end of his treatment in september. When first diagnosed we went down to the fertility clinic in preparation for having more children after treatment. He spoke to his consultant 2 months ago in regards to getting the ball rolling for extending our family next year which dr said was fine and he would refer us for after treatment but said as his bloods have been so consistent and steady there was no reason why we couldnt 'try' naturally...

    Rant alert
I'm furious with how selfish some people are. We have a little girl next door who occasionally plays with our little one. I have explained that we need to be careful as M is going through chemo and exposure to chicken pox is not a good idea. The smaller screaming brother has had chicken pox within the last four weeks so I said again molls needed to stay away etc. every day for the last week the door has gone with the children from next door wanting to play and every day I've said no Today grandma...

Had a hysteroscopy under general yesterday, I've got a tiny womb with a false cavity! I can add that to my list of bodily oddities along with the horseshoe kidney (joined together across the top to make one), large lump on side of skull (forceps delivery in the 50s), and large grey streak in hair over said lump ( well it's all grey now but I dye it!). I feel positive now they've done a 'proper' biopsy, surely that will give them something to work with? The 2-3 week wait again is softened by the...

    Space Invaders and Space Wasters

I might be going a little stir crazy now my complete need to sleep has lifted a little. I've offered to go into work and crack on but no one seems to think that's a good idea until I've 'had a good break'. Was I really that bad before I went off? I thought I held it all together rather well myself! I'm still knackered and am sleeping a ridiculous amount but where before I'd wake up, shrug it off and go back to sleep, I've now reached my limit for inactivity. Today I vacuumed the house and did some...

Day 33 ( or is it 34?) meal time swallow assessment

Today a lovely gentleman came out from the Speech and Language team to do a meal time swallow assessment. I wasn't sure what this was going to involve but assumed is need a meal so bought a ready meal and cooked it ready for his arrival.

The whole thing took less than 30 min. I ate and he sat and watched, saying that I didn't appear to be having any problems. He asked what things I could and couldn't eat , and it's pretty much everythjng I can eat. He also asked about taste, which is also all...

    Day 32 - Appointments

So tomorrow sees the first of 4 appointments over the next 2 weeks. First up is speech and language with a home visit for a meal time swallow assessment. I'm assuming it's them assessing me eating, and I'm not expected to provide lunch for both of us! Then later this week is the referral to the ENT department of the hospital where I'll be having radiotherapy. The following week we have a check over at the breast clinic followed by the next check up with the original consultant. Such a busy social...

Round Two - why do I feel Ill?

Round two happened on Friday just gone.  M totally fine, I, however, have some nausea, can't sleep again and am quite restless - what's all that about?  I think it's down to the fact I'm completely and utterly emotionally knackered.  I've never felt so tired mentally as I do right now.  The constant positive thoughts and cheery face, the constant reassuring other people he's going to be fine, he can be fixed is wearing a bit thin now.  I'd love someone to ask how I am and mean...

    Summer Side Effects

They say you ought to be careful in the winter because the cold can cause havoc to the population's elderly. They never remember to tell people that it's just as likely in the blistering heat of the summer months. This latest heat wave has seen two relatives die and another two admitted to hospital, where they still remain. It's a worrying time for our family and where as I'd usually be down like a shot to assist in any way I can, currently daily trips to the hospital make that impossible when the...
