Today I visited the breast clinic after the team decided they needed to eliminate and tiny chance the the lump had been a secondary to a primary in the breast because if was a similar type to those often found there as primaries. Started out filling in a questionnaire and a form asking if you wanted copies of letters sent to the doctor.

Well I went to the Hospital again today (City Hospital Nottingham).
Had discussion with doctor about how, when and what happens getting my feeding tube fitted tomorrow, and to give more blood!!
Another box ticked!
Learnt today that despite fancy offices, buildings and more leaflets than you can wave a stick at, MacMillan do not have a benefits advisor in Nottingham, so no further forward with that. Perhaps its a role I will be well qualified to fill on recovery!!

Got a call on Friday asking me to come in for the radio therapy planning meeting at 10.30 today. The visit started with a trip up stairs to the chemo ward to have a blood test and a cannula fitted as apparently they wanted to inject me with some kind if dye to get better images for my first scan. The blood test was to make sure that my kidneys were working properly.
Once that was done it was straight into the mask making session. the technician nurse explaining what would happen during the process...
I was diagnosed with cancer on the 30th June 2014.
Although they were not 100% sure where I had cancer they were pretty sure it was my tonsils or tongue.
On the 9th July I was admitted to the Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham for surgery to remove the large lump from my neck (lumpectomy) along with my tonsils and a biopsy from my tongue.
I have completely recovered from the tonsillectomy, but having a 18 inch scar from behind my ear to the underside of my chin and down my neck toward my shoulder...

Today is the day that we get a visit from S-I-L. I'm not completely convinced she will actually arrive but she's due at 11.50. I've already planned to go out alone when she gets here and leave her with her brother to talk to him, to convince herself he hasn't grown a second head, he's not green - in fact he hasn't changed at all, he has a somewhat sharper hair style and looks like Bruce Willis in the Die Hard films, sometihng I have been laughing at for the past week, but that's it....
Today was a trip to a completely different hospital following my referral from my consultant after the MDT team said I needed radiotherapy. Where I live is on he boarder of a few different health trusts so I'm Now being handed over to the RBH hospital. It's actually far easier for me to get to, but I was a little wary of having to meet a whole new team of people.

So yesterday I had clinic review as well as a lovely 1.5 hour wait for my radiotherapy appointment. Apparently treatment room 8 was where the party was because it was the only delayed area. As usual the staff were fabulous and I had a decent wait - I really can't praise the Freeman enough. It seems I accidentally picked the perfect place to live if I must insist on having cancer.
I got to catch up with my nutty oncologist who had a good poke of my arm and told me she was delighted by the progress...
