Today a lovely gentleman came out from the Speech and Language team to do a meal time swallow assessment. I wasn't sure what this was going to involve but assumed is need a meal so bought a ready meal and cooked it ready for his arrival.
The whole thing took less than 30 min. I ate and he sat and watched, saying that I didn't appear to be having any problems. He asked what things I could and couldn't eat , and it's pretty much everythjng I can eat. He also asked about taste, which is also all fine at the moment. He also watched me drink.
I asked about the reduced jaw opening and he said it probably was Trismus, and there were things that could be done, but that won't be until after radiotherapy. He said he won't need to see me again but would be available for any questions I might have and would be back in touch after RT.
I celebrated with muffin and icecream!!!
