    Day 4
Well it's Friday, day after op and I was supposed to be going today but I didn't manage it, still in to much pain, by all account they had fitted my feeding tube too tight, so they have loosened it and upped the pain killers. Saw the dietician who told me all about how my tube and feeding tube would work. Saw a nutrition nurse who told me all about how my tube and feeding would work, but totally different than the dietician. She explained to me that I would be fed through the night with a pump...

That was the week that was...

Well we're half way there, third chemo session was Friday just gone and to be honest it could have gone better but then again I don't suppose OH helped himself by drinking a bottle of red the night before.  Completely wiped him out this time but as usual up and at work on Saturday, which is fine but when he crashes there's only me to pick up the pieces.

OH had a bit of a reaction on Friday to one of the drugs so a slight worry and looked close to tears all the way through.  Under protest...

  • How can I possibly cope with my dad dying....
    things are changing

So went to spend the morning with mum and dad today it was so nice. Starting to see small changes now like dad gets major anxiety if he is going somewhere without mum which is so not like him he is usually a independent strong person, also confusion and forgetfulness if mum isn't with him my brother has to remember the pin number on dad's card and what account ect as dad forgets. We had to have a major chat today about someone always being in the house with dad just because the threat of seizures...

    One of those days

Every day is a struggle, today was no exception. The day started off ok, sun was shining, I had managed to sleep more than four hours, yay. Went for a nice walk, had brekkie . . . . . . .  Started pottering around the house, as i do then all went downhill !  knocked my funny bone-which wasnt funny, stubbed my toe, then to top it off I dropped a shelf on my foot!ouch!! A lot of swelling and brusing but luckily no breaks, At the time, yeah it hurt, but I carried on 'pottering', then I started 'seein...

  • How can I possibly cope with my dad dying....
    a good talk with mum

    Hi everyone.

So today I had mum come over for coffee which was so great as she hardly has time to get away from dad. We talked about all the big things like funeral and housing plans when it's just mum and my young brother. It was very emotional but much needed.  I've found one of the hardest things is treading carefully with mum as not to add pressure so I've refrained from bringing up funerals and big things.

It however was a extremely honest tearful conversation which was so good...

  • I miss you
    Gran...

I don't know when I last wrote to you or when I last really spoke about you. I apologize, I don't mean to forget you.

I used to count the days since you left this World, since you left me. I don't anymore. I still remember though - the dates, conversations, what we wore, the weather.

On the 13th of October, we drove from Nottingham to Halifax to see you. I knew you weren't well, Grandad kept telling us. In the daytime, I was in your dining room with you. You said "I have something for...

  • How can I possibly cope with my dad dying....
lonely angry guilty my dad is dying!

Hi everyone so I have joined this community as my dad a year ago got diagnosed with terminal glioblastoma multiforme grade 4.

I have depression unfortunately so that doesn't help with the emotions. I just feel very lost and alone with this. My mum and my younger brother are super positive where as I am more realistic some would say pessimistic.  I just don't want to fool myself into thinking it's going to be ok.

The hardest thing for me is the what ifs...

And the waiting is so unbearable...

    Day 3
Well I turned up at 8am for my 'routine procedure' only to find the ward was full and I had been shipped to another ward. Sat on the other ward for 2 hours, then shipped down to a corridor for an hour. Had my feeding tube fitted and back on ward by 1pm, Nil by mouth for 6 hours. Wel the routine procedure that everyone told me was painless turns out to be one of the most painful things ever!!! It feels like I have been stabbed and everytime I move it feels like they are twisting the blade. I...

  • Non Hodgkin Lymphoma - One Careful Owner
    Onwards

Radiotherapy finished last Friday and somehow I feel like I've just woken up and nearly a week has passed. How on earth did that happen?

I get to see the lovely haematologist next week to check on how it went but I generally they all seem to think they achieved what they wanted to. Huzzah!

The week has been a bit of a blur. Uncle Richard's funeral was on Monday down in Lincolnshire but I wasn't able to attend thanks to yet an appointment. Apparently getting poked by medical professionals is...
