Wednesday 1st February.
Today I got up feeling niggly, actually I'd been awake since 4am and didn't get to sleep until well after 1am, that could explain why, damn those steroids. Oh and the hot flushes I was getting all night too.
Hubby must have picked up on it although I was trying to be normal, he phoned his friends and arranged a time to visit and see the new puppy they got on Sunday. We'd decided last night we probably wouldn't go as the weather was going to be bad and we wanted...
Throughout my life music has had a huge impact. It's made me feel happy and sad. Sometimes when I listen to a song it transports me straight back to a memory as if I was there.
I heard a beautiful song for the first time tonight - I miss you by the missing people choir. This song was written to bring hope for the people left behind after someone goes missing. People interpret songs and lyrics differently. Listening to this song had me in tears for very different reasons than it was intended...
Hi
My dear 80 year old Mum was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer on 3rd November 2016, it has spread to her fallopian tubes, ovaries, lymph and also affecting her aorta. The last few months have been tough to say the least for her and the family but we are all trying to do our best, and we have had support from her team, MacMillan has been wonderful. She is stoic and trying to protect us all from the reality but she is declining, loosing weight, continuing to bleed, lost her sense of small and taste...
Tuesday 31st January 2017
Today has been a long day, got up did the usual temperature which was fine, I always worry more on blood test on chemo day. I made some scones to take in with me and tidied around as I knew we'd be back late.
The chemo was fine after the first attempt at getting the cannula in failed miserably when she punctured my vein, changed sides had everything went well after that, I was worried about the allergic reaction with this new chemo as the nurse mentioned if when...
I had just emerged from the biopsy anaesthesia when, I had a talk with the surgeon, who confirmed the malignancy, and revealed that because of its position, trans-oral surgery wasn't an option..A scan was done (with dye), to find the extent of the tumour, and the cancer team decided after studying the scan result, that radiotherapy was the best option for a cure, although it was possible to access the tumour by opening up the front of the throat. I did not pursue this option at the time, and opted...
Monday 30th January.
I don't like 'blood test Monday'.
I hate waiting for the district Nurse, I always think she will forget to call. She owns the local pub and is there in the evenings, I don't know how she does it! Anyway today she was early so I had less worry time and went for my right good arm, the blood was flowing today so all was good, I've been drinking tons of water to try to help. Just had to send hubby out of the room as he's unpredictable with blood, sometimes...
Hello everyone!
It feels right to start with an introduction and why I'm here.
My name is Miss Blue. I'm a 31 (nearly 32!) year old secondary school teacher.
Last April, my Stepmum was diagnosed with stomach cancer. She fought through the treatment which eventually became ineffective, but sadly lost her fight on 18th January this year, aged 52.
My 88 year old maternal grandmother (aka Nan), who survived breast cancer whe she was young, has been in and out of hospital...
This weekend I went away to celebrate one of my childhood best friends birthdays. It was so good to catch up with everyone and so good to be able to celebrate a milestone birthday with her.
Her mum died very suddenly a few years back. She had a massive aneurism, went straight into a coma and didn't wake up. I was sat looking at my best friend and thinking what an absolutely amazing person she is. She didn't get to say goodbye to her mum but she dealt with everything amazingly. I feel lucky that...
Sunday 29 January 2017.
Time to update this blog.
I've been away at our younger daughters since last Sunday, it was a lovely few days, my husband nearly finished her kitchen and I did a lot of cooking and shopping and we all relaxed in the evenings together with good food and a film. It was so nice.
Since my last chemo session I've hardly been at home, it's gone by in a flash and it's done me the world of good. I've felt quite well and been really busy, there were times I've...
New to this, so hopefully it works out and makes some sense... :/
I'm trying to deal with the loss my mum in August, so thought maybe making it into a story might help.
This is a story of a lady asked to cope with 2 cancers in one lifetime, but couldn't (wouldn't?). In the end it became too much.
It all started when I was maybe a year/ 18 months. She woke up on the floor of the kitchen and was violently sick. When she called the doctor, he said it sounded like a seizure and go to the...
