That's the end of week two of RT. 11 sessions down - 9 to go. I'm in single figures now, and heading the right way! This week, the mask has been no problem whatsoever. I have my (Treatment + Scan) on a Tuesday, which lasts about 15 mins in the mask. The rest of the week is just treatment, which entails approximately 7 minutes in the regalia. I now only take one half of a little helper, which sees me through nicely, and I can go out for lunch with the missus after treatment, and I still appear half...
I had a trying day today. I probably don't have to explain this in detail - the day for lovers, and mine is in a box on the funeral directors' shelf (and I really need to do something about that... but that's another post). I was in a knot of anger and self-pity from yesterday morning onward. Hating it and hating myself but unable to bring any influence to bear on my state of mind. My body feels permeated with anger and frustration - my skin and hair are dry, my nails flaky, my digestion erratic...
Tuesday 14th February.
It's Valentine's Day and I've just has a M&S meal deal, it's been a busy day work wise and we didn't want to cook, good old M&S saved the day, it was very tasty. I bought it yesterday after the hospital appointment and I was sneezed on by a man in the queue, I hope I don't come down with a cold! I do worry about how I will cope with work after the lumpectomy and radiotherapy but I'll have to cross that bridge when I come to it, so far it's been manageable. ...
I'm just wondering if anyone can help or advise on this topic please?
Having been on levothyroxine for many years my dosage had doubled in the past two years and my weight has increased a lot.
Recently been referred to an endocrinologist consultant as not stable
Levels and had ultrasound which has come back with benign nodule u2.
However, I can choke very easily on nothing in particular and my throat is like sandpaper at times.
I'm quite worried as my blood tests I had done before...
My dad has started day 1 of his treatment for throat cancer a long journey ahead trying to stay positive at the moment ❤
Evening all,
We have just finished our evening meal and everyone is settled watching television or dozing so I think now is a good time to bring you up to date with what happened last week.
The hospital contacted me after confirming that I would definitely be receiving the trial drug to arrange this weeks appointment. They asked me to travel down on Monday when I would have a blood test then stay down as they had booked me in for my infusion on Wednesday at around three in the afternoon. It would...

It's been a quiet few days really. The T chemotherapy side effects seem to have settled down now but I have a feeling my fingernails may be starting to suffer, they look and feel a bit bruised. Other than that I just feel a bit tired now and again. I'm pretty sure my hair is starting to grow back. Only two more sessions to go now.
Yesterday hubby wanted to go out with a friend to watch the rugby, so I dropped them off in town and had a quiet afternoon...
This is one of the hardest things I have ever had to write. Mum died. She was so strong and brave and she fought and clung on to life right till the end but her body couldn't cope any longer. I was there and am so grateful I got to say goodbye properly.
It's hard because we knew it was a 'terminal' illness but she was doing so well we thought we had a lot more time with her. She literally went downhill very suddenly overnight. I literally don't know how to carry on. My life ended when she...
First week of radiotherapy treatment gone over already ! 6 down, 14 to go. After the first treatment in the mask last Friday went without panic, the 20 min sessions on Monday and Tuesday (Scan + treatment) went really well (still with the aid of a little tablet). The rest of the week I barely had time to listen to half way through the second track of my CD when it was mask unclip time, and all over with !! By yesterday (Friday), I was just lying there breathing totally normally (no big gasped breaths...
