  • The mysteries of Mo
    September 28th 2011

Mo's off to the Day Therapy Centre today, for the first time. I haven't got any kids myself but I feel like a mum/dad taking their son/daughter to school on 'their first day'. Worried, anxious and emotional, making sure they had everything in their schoolbag, well in Mo's case tissues, water, money & of course fags lol even though youv'e checked their bag a 'million times'. I am a little worried because she's not had a rest after her meds as normal & gone straight out and may get tired soon. I was worried...

    It's all coming together

First wave of second hand books have been delivered to the Hall, the pile of cakes is stacking up nicely (lemon drizzlex3, coffee and walnut, carrot cake, gluten free chocolate brownies, pain au chocolat all at this house and more cakes known to be at the neighbours and on their way), flowers for the tables have been collected, balloons and bunting are in the car. It's going to be one hell of a coffee morning!

Publicity has gone well: articles in the MK News on 14 Sept and MK Citizen on the...

    results of ultrasound

the results show are that i do have lumps (lymph nodes) not going to do a biopsy. lumps arent big enough. biggest one is just over 1cm at the minute. got to wait two months to go back, or before then if theres any problems. they wont do a needle biopsy as it wouldnt show or do anything to say if its back or not. he would prefer it to be a whole lymph node, but as its not big enough, he cant do anything yet.

    so yeah watch and wait.

been prescribed stronger painkillers than the ones i have. that...

    Hair today, gone tomorrow?

Well having checked my hair from all angles by using 2 mirrors, I can see that it is so patchy it's going to have to go!

I am wearing a ''buff'' that Pedro donated at the mo, and going out for lunch with mum and Bry in a bit so may try my jersey hat too ... and then borrow some clippers and have to go for it ... oh blimey, kinda looking forward to just getting rid of it and kinda wondering how weird it will be!!

Thankfully temperature is behaving, and had a lovely...

Am I wrong to try this????

    Hi all of you,

Well today has been a rollercoaster of emotions.

The nurses are now in agreement that mum is better of here at home...Why? well Gladys (the nurse) told me today that the speed of mums decline has been so quick that they don't think there is any hope for her now and have asked me to prepare myself, my dad and all the family for what is not too far away. Apparently they think because of her refusal to eat, even with what little I can get down her in intervals it will be her heart that...

    Planning the Funneral

We have registered the death and been to the funeral directors to arrange all the required paperwork. We have confirmed the date.

Now I just need to sort out the music, never been my strongest point. I'm more of a "if I hear a song I like I get it" kinda person rather than intro who sings what.

    Thank goodness for the internet!

The Hymns I have chosen are:
                                                                    In Heavenly love Abiding
                                                                    Lord of all Hopefulness

David has welsh relations, some of which are members of the welsh choir...

    Hubby passed Away

Well, as the other one seemed to work, here goes with the second one.

Because hubby was getting very agitated he was prescribed Medazipan, which I keep calling Marzipan!

This helped to make hubby relaxed by Friday and not agitated. The nurses also informed me on Friday that hubby is struggling to swallow and is no longer eating or drinking anything.

Friday and Saturday he would open one eye but not for long, drifting and very sleepy. But smiles at things you say, especially memories and things...

    Chemo # 4 ...

So after getting PET scan postponed until the 10th, off I went to Nevill Hall for chemo #4. Jo came to chat with me during the last hour :)
My ''positional'' hickman line played up so I wiggled in chair and flapped some arms etc and then discovered that if I pulled my shoulders back, it flowed freely lol!
So I sat with correct posture and nearly offered to balance a book on my head... ;)
Back home and at abouy 4pm felt myself getting cold and shivery - aha I thought, it's going to be...

    September 27th 2011 (pt2)

Charlotte the carer came round today at 2pm and gave Mo a wash and washed her hair today. There was some initial confusion between the A1 care co-ordinator and myself regarding the times but it was eventually sorted.I also had Helen (getting slightly better remembering SOME names lol) from A1 carers visit today, later than planned to talk about a sitting carer for Thursdays.Unfortunately earlier on this morning I had a phonecall from the Carers Association saying they were unable to supply a carer...

    September 27th 2011

I had to make some phonecalls today,A1 Carers,Adult Social Care and the Carers Association. A1 Carers to see what time Charlotte was coming,2pm today,Adult Social Care to inquire about the sitting carer,I didn't know what company it was turned out to be A1 Carers.I didn't realise A1 Carers & Quality Homecare were the same company let alone responsible for Mo's personal care and my respite care which is ok as its easier to deal with one single agency and not two or three agencies.I also rang the Carers...
