Well here I am describing an illness I didn't want or need. July 15 I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer within 3 hours I had every test available and told to tell my family I have cancer. Going home was unreal how do you tell loved ones you got such an horrible disease. I told my partner first he was in disbelief took me three days to tell my mom that was the hardest we have such a long history of cancer in the family. How can a mom make you better she was helpless. I had my right breast off...
I thought it was painful when you were here and I was anticipating and trying to prepare myself for you going. But then I could walk in the room and hold you or kiss you or chat with you. I can't do that now. I thought I knew what real pain was - I had no idea.
I've the pile of laminate floor in my bedroom that I can't fit without you. I can't do it. You were doing it. Its a constant reminder that you are never, ever coming back.
I've reinstated breakdown cover - remembering as I did...
So the start of my week was finally saying goodbye to mum, funeral was amazing and such a lovely turnout, but so emotional. Family from afar wanted to discuss me and treatment but I wanted to remain focused on mum before I could face my situation. Amazing of them all to be so concerned though.
Tuesday saw an early start as needed to be at the hospital for 7.30am, after chatting with surgeon and signing all the forms it was time for the proceedures to begin. a coil was fitted into my tumour in an...
Hi, I’m Shanie.
I am a 20 something year old recovering beauty addict obsessed with Kate Middleton, Champagne and anything that helps life to sparkle. A lover of handbags, Kim Kardashian and a massive foodie, well chocolatier.
By day I work for the exciting world of IT, and most nights you will find me glued to my laptop watching Vlogs, Made in Chelsea or spending some much needed time at the GYM. Shopping is one of my favorite past times and you will usually find me eying up my next beauty...
We have had a week of calmness after some 8 weeks of what has felt like exhausting madness. this has been an 18 month journey with a short intermission at the end of 2014. The intermission was short lived and chemo started the summer of 2015. After the third cycle we had the message so many people must get but so few can be prepared for. When you're told "go home and spend what time you've got together" and given some morphine how are you meant to react? This was a few weeks before Christmas and...
So, you find out a loved one has cancer, it isn't happening to you, but your world crashed the same as theirs. It has been since June we found out, both had a 50th birthday, (It's young to me), Even though my daughter says she is really old at 30 yeah right! - Changed jobs, live life, cried, laughed, hidden away, argued, buried heads, faced the music, played music, danced, well I did, my husband sort of moves.
And we are still here, fighting but extremely exhausted trying to be normal. If there...
October 2014
found a small lump on the right side of my neck about the size of a pea
Welcome to my first attempt at blogging I hope that readers find it useful.
My journey started when I was 24 and newly married, I developed excruciating hip pain which developed over the years and was routinely diagnosed as sciatica, lumbago, neck pain, whiplash etc. I had to give up many sports I enjoyed as the pain had a serious impact on my working and family life. Being a police officer I was able to keep reasonably active though in the end the disease ended my police career at the age of 45...
..... went up to RM last week for CT, MRI, Pre-op Assessment, appt. with Oncologist and Surgeon - everything went as planned until we saw the Onc - we thought she was just going to tell us how the 25 sessions of radiotherapy had affected 'BETTY' but instead we heard 'I am very sorry I have bad news for you - the cancer has escaped and you have 'nodules' in your lungs and will need 'chemo' !!!!! mmmmm yes a bit of a surprise to say the least.
The good news (well you have...
The week when the dreaded and anticipated agony was to arrive was not unlike any other week before it really. Brian had gradually started feeling more fatigued, he tried to hide muscle weakness to his legs but did admit he was hiding it when I could see he couldn't stand easily and looked worried once he had managed to stand. As though he couldn't feel his legs. He announced one day that he could no longer walk the dog - something we had got a lot of pleasure from when he was first discharged...
