My amazing big sister was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in June a few days after our brother, Peter, he died on 28th June 2 weeks after being diagnose!! Chris has been having chemo and she was at the hospital on monday 20th for a scan to see if the cancer has spread, she gets her results on September 3rdm why does she have to wait so long, it's like a ticking time bomb, mental torture! When she was diagnosed her partner asked were her chances 50/50 and the doctor told them more like 70/30...........
DAY 2
By 10 am we had stillnot heard from the hospital about my husband's test results and when we could go and discuss them. My husband phoned the hospital and was told he had been transferred to a different consultant and that a letter had been sent with an appointment for 3rd September!
Appointment ? they had said we could go to the endoscopy ward for a chat. I then phoned the ward as I got no joy speaking to the consultants' secretaries. We now are seeing the new consultant onFriday at 9...
It's been nearly 2 months since dad died. Now I can sit back and look at all that has happened. I can only describe watching someone you love with terminal cancer, die before you, as a hurricane hitting the house with everyone inside. We could see it coming but boy, it knocked us off our feet.
We clung on to each other scared, terrified, afraid at this monster that raged past us, destroying everything that was safe and secure. There were moments of calm. When we could talk even laugh and joke...
No news today but let's take a step back.
Last Monday my husband had a colonoscopy. We were ushered into a tiny room with not enough chairs and no windows to be told a polyp had been found at it was 'significant'. The next step they said was a CT scan in the next 10 days then the case would be discussed by the Multi Disciplinary Team on the Monday following the CT scan. On the same day I was told my mother has a nodule on her right lung.
The following day an appointment arrived by ta...
Before I go too far I first want to point out the excellent and speedy treatment I received once diagnosed with bowel cancer just before Christmas 2011. I Started my Chemo and Radio therapy in January 2021, and was operated on, on the 29th May 2012 ( bad timing in that it meant I spent the Jubilee Weekend stuck in hospital.) I my rectum removed and was fitted with a stoma.
Following my discharge I was visited once a week by the Stoma Nurse and every second day by the Local District Nurse(s...
Hi all, Had my 4th and hopefully last Chemo. on Friday 10th. Everything was ok until last Monday (13th) then all the side effects kick in for about 5 days. The tiredness was the worst this time probably due to having had 4 doses of chemo. I have an infection in my arm again probably due to the many blood tests, canula's etc.. Almost finished antibiotics but it has not cleared up yet so going back to Doctor today. We went away to Dream time house on Friday thanks to Gill & Ellie letting us have use...
Not sure if I have got this right, but am trying.
It is so difficult to know if you aredoing the right thing.
Have been reading some of the blogs posts etc,it just helps a bit knowing that other people are unfortunately going through the same thing.
Today, Monday 20th August 2012, I was diagnosed with vulval cancer. I was absolutely shocked by the news and its still not sunk in; I feel numb, then I cry, then make jokes about having new lady bits being given to me, then cry again.
I'm due to see a plastic surgeon on Wednesday 22nd August and I will have surgery on the 6th September. That doesn't scare me so much but having the MRI scan to ascertain if the cancer has spread does. I'm hoping and praying the cancer has been caught in time...
Mum is feeling great! she says that she feels no different to how she felt 6 months ago, in fact probably better now she has lost some weight ( was 3 stone overweight) she has energy, and is eating well.
She seems to have got to grips with trying to be careful with what she eats so not to give herself bad bowels. And she said today since she has started the cooking, and not my dad, the tummy pains and bad bowels have slowed right up! So I am clinging onto this being a good thing?
She is popping...
