the silent after sharing the cancer news to family, friends and work friends.

I shared  in a private message to all my friends and family  - that I have Fast growing Lymphoma Cancer.
words of support through the journey of treatment would help  to keep me positive .  90% of people replied to the message but then -silent   its made me a bit lonely inside my heart

    Your Not Invited...

    Hello,

I am sitting in bed eating bacon sandwiches, I figure that my cancer risk from bacon is negated now, plus I like bacon.

Forgive me for not blogging any sooner but we have been busy enjoying Christmas and preparing the new house.  Plus to be fair nothing much cancer related has happened to me thankfully.  The last thing I wanted was a hospital visit over Christmas, the poor NHS is stretched enough and I wanted to be with my family.   This has brought home a new realisation for me about the reality...

    Where I am today..

well last week was a blur, mum faced breast cancer 7 years ago and won, only to have it return this year, she was told in July that it had returned and spread to liver, lungs and bones...it was terminal and she had approximately 2 months to live. At only 64 it was a blow, but she battled bravely until she finally lost the fight on 21st December. I cherished the last few months with her, spending every day by her bedside, laughing and talking. given mums history I check myself for lumps regularly...

    Testicular cancer radiotherapy

hi thought I'd give a wee update on my husband greg. Greg finished radiotherapy at the end of September and got his C.T 17th December so we ph up this morning to get results but unfortunately the doc said that there has been no significant change to his lymph nodes! I'm quite disappointed as they seemed so sure and positive that it was going to work! Gregs consultant is off due to the festivities so kind of left hanging, one of the nurses going to see if she could find someone for more information...

Is this the world's greatest hospital?

Daniel is still being treated at the Royal Marsden and after being so devastated that he was going to have to spend his Christmas there, as the big day approaches I am just more and more impressed each day with the place!

When I first heard that Daniel would be having chemo Christmas Day, I did my absolute best to try and plan some elaborate surprises for him to make his day that little bit more special.  But I largely hit a brick wall.  I found it near on impossible to get ANYONE to help me on the...

  • My story so far
    From my Mum

My mum wanted to write a blog post - to show people her perspective:

"Seven days after chemotherapy, and at last Ailsa begins to emerge from the darkness of its side effects.

The signs are clear: not so pallid, a small but genuine smile and some

spontaneous conversation about the weekend and Christmas trees. Followed by

some dedicated time on social media and replying to messages. Concentration is

back and interest in the world returns.

This week has been the worst so far. Ailsa, our beautiful...

It's beginning to look a bit like Christmas...?

    Hi all,

Hope you are all well and well prepared for Christmas?  Things have finally started to get a bit more seasonal here.  We went Christmas tree shopping for a space saving tree to put up in our dining room/living room and the children dressed it.  A first for me because I am normally very possessive and OCD about dressing the tree, but maybe because this one isn't the usual one I found it easier? (wink, wink).

This evening despite me feeling that I really didn't feel like doing it I have written...

    Day 1 - No Cycle

Today is the first day of no pills, injections, blood tests, chemo ....

Well apart from a 2 month prescription for antibiotics, but for the last 3 months I have started a new cycle on a Wednesday and had a chemo session also.

Since last time I had my final chemo combined with a blood transfusion last week, usual couple of days of not moving. Had the worst stomach cramps yet, eventually found a position I could fall asleep in but was close to going to hospital as pain was making me almost...

  • Dear Husband, I will be there for you, every step of the way, right by your side.
The winds of grief blow long and hard.

17 months of living without my husband by my side. 17 months of grief and heartache, visiting dark places and finally some more happy places. Memories. Over and over they return. How my heart and soul and body ache for him. So much has happened here without him, so much has moved on. I struggled so much with the feeling that I was leaving him behind, I felt disloyal, unloving and down right miserable. But I didn't have to leave him behind. I'm bringing him along with me, into my life, into our lives...
