I've recently been diagnosed with bowel cancer and will soon be starting a course of chemotherapy.
I've decided to start a blog so that I can share my experiences and thoughts as I embark on a program of chemotherapy to fight this invidious disease.
I had my colonoscopy on Wednesday. Ouch! But I think the bowel cleanser (Moviprep) was the worst part. 2 Litres of the stuff but boy did it do the trick. I felt hollow the next morning.
The colonscopy showed up not only the main tumour around my rectum but another potentially cancerous polyp further up.
I went to see my consultant yesterday to get the full picture and it was not good news. I have advanced rectal cancer (stage 4) and it has spread to the right side of my liver. Some good news in that...
And so it started, my introduction to cancer on Wednesday 13th April....unlucky for some and it was for me!!! However, I have tried to only look ahead and not sit and dwell on what has been dealt to me. The human body is such an amazing thing, how it develops, how it heals itself and how it deals with the stresses of life. However, sometimes, it just lets you down and there's not much you can do about it. I really don't think there is much I could've changed in my life that would have made much...
I've been fighting since 2013. Started off with rectal ca, lung met lobectomy this january, brain tumours in april, all since removed or in preparation to zap hopefully. just trying to get more time with my wife and two wonderful kids.
My parents separated when I was 10. We joined the statistic, we were a broken home.
But you know the great thing about that? You get two homes.
It wasn't all sunshine and roses straight away. When you're 10 years old you aren't going to just embrace the man that you believe stole your mum away from your happy home. It took time. The home had no foundations, we had to build those first.
It's been 19 years. He's been there through exams and flat tyres. He's been there when my world shattered...
Hi All.
I am new to ALL of this, but really need some help, advice or guidance... My partner and I have recently rekindled an old flame from many years ago, when we were both young and full of dreams! We both went our separate ways, but always stayed in touch. Finally we both actually said how we felt and have been together for the last few months, which we're ecstatic about!
But he has prostate cancer, was diagnosed almost a year ago... He hasn't really done much as way of treatment or...
I have met some really beautiful people, shame I didn't met them before I had cancer.
I don't want to be defined as Karen the one with breast cancer, I want to be Karen.
people have commented that I'm brave, I'm not brave, I had no choice. The op, the adjacent therapy, has been determined because their was no other choice. I have had a couple of dark days they don't see, especially when I faced my mastectomy.
But I'm still a mother, friend and daughter and i want people...
Ive got a good hangover going on! Im in work early because my wife gave me a lift in, and im sat here probably still drunk....thats when im at my most honest! if you ever want to know whats going on inside my head....buy me a beer (or 10)...im not saying drinking is a good thing, but its something i like to do, and its important to do the things you enjoy!
Lets rewind 14 months...its probably IBS said the doctor! I spent 5 weeks going to see the doctor, every week telling him im not well. The last...
Hi, my husband was diagnosed in December with neuroendocrine tumours in pancreas and metastatic in liver and spine , he is receiving chemotherapy for palliative care only ,some days it seems all a bad dream . I know it's terminal but have been given no guide of time left as my husband doesn't want to know
My son is terrified of ‘the man who bangs the table’. When he hears him, he freezes, eyes wide and immediately grabs my hand. When we are out and about, if he hears a banging noise, he immediately reaches for me, and whispers ‘the man, banging the table’. Its his biggest fear. The man who bangs the table is just our neighbour, who doesn’t actually bang the table, just has a chair that squeaks the floor when he moves it. Despite explaining this numerous times to Theo, ‘the man who bangs the table...
