Be nice to me, I have cancer
Hi, This my first post here so let's see how it goes. I'm an Israeli living with metastatic breast cancer with lots and lots of mets to the bones. I've started treatment 15 months ago and things are going fine. Within this time I learned how to talk about my cancer without crying about it especially when people ask "When are you supposed to finish treatment?" - Never "Never? So You're going to keep doing it for years and years? How long does your onc give you?" - Statistically when there's mets...

    Getting There
Things are finally happening. The funding for my sister to donate in Australia has been agreed and I have a new provisional date. We are just waiting for confirmation from the Australian hospital. I have been back to the hospital several times for lots of tests, these were not hard or painful they just involved lots of waiting around - see details below if you are interested. The lung function test is all about blowing in a tube with a clip on your nose. It's not difficult but it did make me...

    Problems with fingernails
My fingernails just started hurting. The papers from the doctors say "fingernail changes are likely." hmm On the internet, I find that Taxanes (Taxol, Taxotere, Docetaxel) often cause discoloration, pain, and nails may loosen or fall off. Anyone else know anything?

    Liver cancer
I am taking a new drug called sorafenib. My oncolologist does not have any other patients using this drug and I would like to speak to any one that is as I feel a bit on my own. I am getting all sorts of side effects the worst being that I have had oral thrush for 3 weeks now and cannot eating anything solid as it hurts my tongue too much. Hot drinks are out and toothpaste as they are all too painful. Is anyone out there on this drug who I could speak to please?

Hi everyone Just wanted to know if iv chemotherapy has affected anyones breathing. My partner started the course 3 months a go and has now started to eperience breathlessness. She is obviously concerned that either the cancer has gone to her lungs(although she had a chest x ray last week which appeared to be normal)or can this side effect occur with the chemo. If anyone can enlighten me I would be most appreciative

    5 of 6 completed!
Hi all, just reporting that as of friday, 5 of 6 chemos completed! whoopee- the end is in site, bloods were ok after my panic which actually was the start of shingles- done and dusted now. I also found my CA125 from cycle 4, which was down to 8, after starting at mid 30 after the op, so I guess its working, so I am sure not complaining about the side effects at the moment ( give me a while- I will!) I cant believe its nearly over, still got the avastin ongoing, but hell, it cant be as bad as with...

So there are other IBC patients out there!
I know IBC is rare and at first I couldn't find any others on this site! I really thought I might be the only one!! Of course I'm sad that others have this shitty thing-but from a selfish prospective it is comforting and less isolating-I hope that comes over in the right way! I hope I can offer support to others, I do feel for those who are newly diagnosed-its terrifying enough to learn that you have BC let alone a rare, fast growing aggressive kind! It certainly takes some getting used to-if ever...
