i returned to work part time after receiving cancer treatment for most of 2012.  my employer is great at supporting my needs and letting me take my time phasing into work.  Like most people getting over cancer i just want to be like everyone else.  people tell me i look better than i did before.  i've lost weight.  take time out for myself. go out alot with friends now and think of my health.

i feel so much better, and sexier.

my reconstruction started last March 2013.  i had a tram flap procedure...

    My recent purchases

Recently my purchases of music have all been new albums to me, recommendations from various people who have been helping me with my ongoing project to find something different to listen to.  However this week I acquired two albums which I know very well.  I used to own them both but they unfortunately disappeared from my collection over the passage of time.

I can’t remember where they went, probably lent to someone and never returned.  It’s lovely to finally have copies back in the collection...

    The day my Dad died

It was silly oclock in the morning, I was having another nite of nocturnal activity...... this time it was different though. I had spoken to my two aunts to hear the daily up date of how my Dad was doing in hospital with his chest infection. He seemed well was eating better, now that we read the menu correctly and seen he could have it mushed down. Even talking about his renewal of the car insurance. We were rightly worried though, as in the afternoon his professor had came for a visit, to ask the...

  • Warm your teaspoon
    closer stuff

Well it has been a pretty good month on the whole and overall if you take out all the yucky mucky icky bits and multiply the good stuff.

The break from the radio did its job of lulling the feeling of goodness into a false sense of security until 3 days before daughters imminent arrival from Canada. Her arrrival was a real boost for the spirit. His mum would make a whole chapter on it's own. And it's probably best that I brush over the saga. Grrrrrr.

Health wise my man has responded really...

    Memorable moments

The phone call from our GP saying blood results were of concern :-( The phone call from Heamatology to say a mass had been found on hubby's neck :-( The consultant telling us the mass was squamous cell :-( Sitting in the waiting room on the cancer ward :-( Spoon feeding hubby lime jelly on the ward after tonsil operation :-) Laughing together about chest wigs :-) Watching John Bishop together and laughing together and forgetting bad stuff :-) Making massive puddings and desserts for hubby and watching...

    More difficulties

Husband was booked into have both tonsils removed but as seems to be normal for us things haven't gone as planned. One tonsil was removed but the other tonsil turned out to be enmeshed with the tumour which they have now found on his tongue. Biopsy has shown its too advanced and too large for surgery - I'm gutted. From a completely non medical point of view surgery seemed to be offering the best hope so to find out that this isn't happening has come as quite a shock. It was very difficult at the...

  • A Big Journey
04/10/2013 - A Big Journey Cut too Short

My mum passed away on the 2nd October at around 7pm.

It was an awful day. I got up and went to work as usual whilst dad was still at the hospital. He texted me in the morning to tell me that she was up in bed and talking. Which she was doing when I left her the day/night/I have no idea anymore before. She was making jokes and being sarcastic as usual.

I went to work and got on with my day and felt good enough to

Actually I cant do this right now Ill finish this another time. Sorry guys, I hope...

    The time line so far

For my own records I need to record our timeline. How did we get here and how long has it taken us. I've no idea where the year has gone, just one big blur. 9th June first visit to GP due to neck discomfort - antibiotics which failed to work 26th June x-ray at dentists as possibly source of pain 2nd July blood test with GP 8th July GP phones us advising of leukaemia result and wanting to refer to Heamatology dept 23rd July appointment with Heamatology Consultant to confirm leukaemia result (1) 20th...

    Thanks for the recommendations.

I’ve been keeping busy lately catching up with some recommendations.  I have to thank a lady for recently introducing me to the music of four wonderful singers.  I do hope our paths cross again one day as I want to tell you how grateful I am to you.  I’d also love to know what else is in your music collection!

So my new favourite singers are Brenton Wood, Billy Stewart, Ray Peterson and Teddy Randazzo.  Any other fans out there?

With the exception of Brenton Wood they began recording before...

    Life wasn't playing ball

My husbands glands on both side of his neck were still uncomfortable so Leukaemia man sent us for a CT scan just to rule out anything sinister but most likely it was as a result of the CLL - nothing to worry about Yeah Right !! Visit GP too as the pain is becoming worse around the neck - she urged us to contact for scan results. I knew at this point that we were in for something more sinister but my darling husband was completely oblivious to her urgency . I realised she had spotted something that...
