    Happy Day
My husband went to our GP last December to get something done about his haemmorhoids or so he thought and there the journey began.  10 months on and he had his first post op/post treatment scan last week and got the results today.  All clear, no evidence of disease, all's well, next appointment not for three months.  Yippee.  The people on this site have been brilliant for support and information throughout our journey.  Thank you.

    Kind regards to everyone

Light at the end of this rough tunnel

Nothing in this road is ever easy.  I thought that when chemo shrank my son's kidney tumor and it was removed during surgery, that treatment would be simpler, easier afterwards.  I find that I can hardly breathe a sigh of relief because if it isn't one thing it's another.

Technically, my son is in remission and his chemo now is sort of a mopping up of any malignant cells that may have been left behind.  We find that this point in his treatment his bone marrow is having difficulty producing...

Right enough work for today, Im off to the shops apparently I have to buy something called 'slippers', think I can just about remember what they are....

Luckily my other half bless him bought me Julie Walters Autobiography for my birthday so should be able to make a start on that one. Youngest daughter has offered me the use of her DS so gonna treat myself to Professor Layton to keep the old brain ticking over (could get tricky cos wont have access to internet so no cheats for me then)

    Positivity

OMG am I going mad I ask myself. After the calmness taking over yesterday getting the results I then slept for about 2 hours altogether.

I spent the lonely dark hours thinking is it possible to be too positive. It feels like tempting fate is this normal???. I have been reassuring all around me that this is ok and that I am stronger than this, a battle I will win and then alone in the dark I then start to doubt, I think because this is all new to me I dont really understand this grading system (ignorant...

    WTF 1

Okay, we've got a diagnosis, its stage 4 lung cancer and you know what, i'm really, really furious. (hence the title of my blog, sorry, if its offensive, can change, let me know).

My mum is someone I have admired all my life, as are most of our mums. But she's amazing, always has been. So why her, she's done nothing but work hard and be a good person her whole life. She brings Education initiatives to kids and schools around the world, Malawi, mountain village in Thailand and so on,...

    The story so far ...

Hi there everyone, been reading everyone else's blogs for a while now and have been laughing and crying along with all of you.  You are all so brave!

Have edited this blog down from yesterday - did get it out of my system, but felt I had given too much info!  LOL

So here is just the short version..... Mum had bowel cancer 2 years ago.  Had tumour removed and has been fine up until last routine scan which showed a shadow on her ovary, near to the part of the bowel where the cancer was.  She will...

    3 days on...

    Monday, October 5th 2009

It's only been 72 hours since the op and apart from the many tubes/drains coming out of his body you would never know he's had a major operation (and a small one). This morning, he was able to shower (sitting down) and shave himself. He no longer needs the oxygen but still has the saline/sugar/pottasium drip and the magical push button for pain.

He's had a couple of lows during the last 2 days all mainly to do with irrigation of the stents and catheter. At one...

    Helen

    Hi,

I am not very good with finding my way around web sites and have no idea if I will ever find my way back here.  I have managed to get to add my name to the list of others petitioning against car parking charges and hope it  helps.

I'm 53 and was diagnosed with bladder cancer last October.  CIS and a Ta (grade 111) tumour which was removed.  I have had 3 lots of BCG washouts and bladder mapping.  I see my Consultant again tomorrow to hear the results of the last lab test and broach the subject...
