    My Brave Mum

Hello to anyone reading this. My mum started complaining of shoulder pain in September 2010 it  was stopping her playing golf and it was really getting her down She went to the doctors and was sent to physiotherapy and given steroid injections for tennis elbow. The pain increased and mum looked tired and was sleeping downstairs in a chair. Mum had mentioned a small lump but no-one listened. Finally a family doctor listened and referred her to a specialist she had a biopsy and we were hit with the...

    March 1st

Today has been sunny and quite warm and it's St David's day - so why do I feel like I want to get into bed and stay there?

The reason? the extreme tiredness and joint pain that I have been experiencing since just after christmas, at first I thought it was the post Xmas blues. you know - that January feeling coupled with the continued cold weather, and maybe a touch of SAD, but as we got into February it got worse and worse, so on a routine visit to my GP practise for a smear test I mentioned...

    A week later....

How time flies when you are having daily treatments!

I'm glad to say that when the phone call did come from the Gp (the house was in chaos and my son was on the phone from his holiday in Florida, my next door neighbour had come to see my grandchildren and daughter who had come down for half term) it was to say that the Xray showed a minor chest infection, so she's put me on a course of antibiotics.  Hopefully when I have the scan this Thursday they will have worked and it will be a true reading...

    The fight goes on

Things became very bad last Thursday, as mum deteriorated a great deal she now can't sit up or stand or eat unassisted. It was decided that she should go into the hospice. This is now Monday and she is still awake but hallucinating now and then. She keeps asking why my sister's dog is in the ward??

I have came back to work as sadly life has to go as usual, if things get worse I am closer to the hospice at work than at home. It's her Birthday on Friday so fingers crossed that she's with...

    Great Results and Number 4

Last Friday afternoon I had my clinic appointment to get the results from my 4 monthly CT and MUGA scan.  All is well and the oncologist was very happy and I am very happy.  I had to see a locum consultant which always makes me nervous as I know they are qualified but they never really know you and your history but she was very thorough.  The radiologists hadnt reported my CT but the pictures were up so she studied these against my previous scan and in her opinion felt there were no changes. She also...

morning everyone. it's the 1st of March and the sun is shining in bonnie dundee although it is frosty.

I had my first setback yesterday evening as i was sick for the first time. I'm not sure if its due to the yeuchy mouth or i think i may be drinking too much tea and water. That's another thing i'm puzzled about - I am a tea jenny and can drink it all day but i want to drink something else but can't seem to find anything. I absolutely adore diet irn bru but the thought of it makes me "boak"...

    IBC - Help Please !

    Hi

I was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer in September last year and have just completed 6 rounds of FEC Chemo.

During my follow up appointment with the Surgeon to discuss the next stage, ie a Masectomy, he was worried by the rash that still remained on my breast (was much worse before the Chemo) and called in 2 Oncologists to examine me as well.

It was decided that a Surface Skin Biopsy needed to be performed and the results were, that the cancer has spread to my breast skin.

    The problem...
