Hi
I was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer in September last year and have just completed 6 rounds of FEC Chemo.
During my follow up appointment with the Surgeon to discuss the next stage, ie a Masectomy, he was worried by the rash that still remained on my breast (was much worse before the Chemo) and called in 2 Oncologists to examine me as well.
It was decided that a Surface Skin Biopsy needed to be performed and the results were, that the cancer has spread to my breast skin.
The problem it seems, is that if the skin is affected, it cannot be used to close the wound after the Masectomy and as the other option of RT before surgery is no good, as that may potentially damage the skin anyway, it has left me a bit worried.
My Surgeon has decided therefore that I have 4 more Chemo sessions but this time with Docetaxel (Taxotere).
I'am gutted that I seem to have taken a step back, especially after months of preparing myself for surgery-now I know it's for my own good but not really feeling it at the moment !?
Has anyone experienced this and can anyone tell me the difference between the 2 Chemo treatments please.
Thanks guys-any help or advice, would be much appreciated.
