Thought I would give you an update on dad. It has spread to his spine and he is doing so well. His brother is arriving today so dad is very happy about that but I can see lots of tears when he leaves. Its his birthday on the 3 november and I dont know what to buy him any suggestions? I did ask dad and he said he just wants to be alive. It was so sad to hear him say that but I always put a brave face for dad. Poor mum goes for long walks and just cries her eyes out. I feel so sorry for them as the...
My husbanfd had the 'big op' for his cancer in the oesophagus yesterday, it was the longest day ever. I'm glad to say all went according to plan and today he sat in a chair watching telly. This is truly a miracle of mofern science and we're so grateful. I hope his progress continues as well.
I can't express the relief I feel. Thanks to all of you who have sent messages of hope and encouragement, they were most appreciated.

Well it's been a few weeks since I wrote anything. My chemo was thankfully finished, and then it suddenly seemed to be all go what with Tamoxifen starting, the radiotherapy - and the registrar started mentioning this monthly injection (she didn't explain it any further) if my ovaries are still doing their thang. Had a blood test and asked about it yesterday, and the nurse said all appeared normal but I'd have to speak to the doctor - who I'm not seeing till December now. So I'm a...

I went for an assessment with a bereavement counsellor this afternoon. She asked me some questions and I talked about my feelings about my Mum and about what had happened. She is going to assign me a counsellor and get back to me within a couple of weeks.
Lately, I have been finding it hard to cope with life. I am trying to move on: seeing friends, going out shopping, work when it is available- things which I would normally do. But, I feel like my Mum's passing has put it all into perspective....
I saw my consultant in September, he is very happy that everything is well.
Got my next CT scan in December, then it will be a year since the operation.
We have booked a big holiday next year to New Zealand for the end of January
Onwards and upwards

Hi,
I am now halfway through my treatment for rectal cancer. To my surprise i have had few side effects form the ongoing treatment.
There was some real discomfort from the tumour area after 2 weeks radiotherapy, i sometimes felt like I was going to pass out, particularly when sitting on the loo. mentioned it to radiotherapists & they held me back after that day's zapping & I met with a Dr from the oncology dept. She prescribed me codeine/morphine pills to be taken regularly throughout the day alongside...
