Yesterday was not such a good day. Since the GP said it might be cancer last week - first day of new term I have been office based. I could hide behind my desk, not talk with anyone, look at computer and have headphones on to block out thoughts.
Yesterday I had to 'go out into the world'. Get out of the car and say 'Right put professional head on'. Do the job, focus... First appt not too bad although feels a bit of a fog at first and names of pupils I would normally recall are a little slower in...
Hi there , this is my husband ,Stephens story so far .......... At the start of this year my husband started complaining of a pain in his left testicle , at this point he didnt really feel a lump as such , like other people do , it was more that his testicle was the same size as the other but had become rock hard . Like most people , you dont think that it will be anything sinister , so we waited a few weeks , while life takes over and you get on with everyday life and raising three children and...
Hi everyone, may well be away for a few days, sat waiting for a phone call from my friends daughter, and needed to have a rant, went to see my friend on sunday who has sclc and at the end of this journey, she was in bed with cot sides and an alarm to detect movement as with the drugs she was confused and had fallen, but on monday they sat her in a chair without alarm and now a nasty fall and has broken her hip. Off to the main hospital and operation last night, but things do not look good, not that...
Social Services contacted me today coming Friday afternoon to assess (there's that bloody word again!)us to see what they could offer. They also mentioned about a financial assessment to see what we could pay towards Mo's care, totally threw me I wasn't expecting that at all.I only want a carer to come in as & when to help Mo with her personal hygiene as it was very important to her before the cancer and its one less thing for me to worry about, let alone pay for it.I rang the Hospice @ Home team because...
The district nurse paid us a visit yesterday to assess what Mo and I needed.Assessments!Assessments! getting sick to death of them...Now! I know they are a good thing but its always the same questions that are asked over and over, needs must I guess. The district nurse was very helpful telling us what was available, the symptom management clinic, regular house calls by the nursing staff, day therapy at the hospice,Care for Carers, referral (another word I'm beginning to dislike!)to Social services regarding...
The last 6 months have been difficult. I have been surviving with a lot of support from friends and family and professionals and other half has been steadily getting worse. I am on a rollercoaster of emotions. I know I shouldn't allow my mood to be affected by the mood of my other half but sometimes it just is
Very difficult to plan anything and can't concentrate- got stuff I should be doing that don't get done- will try and have a better day tomorrowon
He has poor mobility and significant...
So went for bloods today. My 'positional' tubes which have caused a little difficulty before played up big time today and they had to resort to taking bloods from my arm as none would come out from the tubes, despite them asking me to put arms above head, try coughing, deep breaths, lying flat, standing up....... NO said the tubes! Then the nurse tried removing the stitch (the 3 weeks since having tubes inserted is up... REALLY??) but it was partly stuck to the scab so when she pulled.......
I cried a bit this morning - mornings are the worst when I wake up and realise it's not a bad dream and he's really gone. Keeping busy is the answer so I signed and stamped all the letters I'd typed last night informing people of John's death - at least I've made a start but there's still a long list of people to tell (they're not so urgent so they can wait).
Planned to spend the day with my lovely friend Pat who I'm going on holiday with on Friday. She arrived at...
