Social Services contacted me today coming Friday afternoon to assess (there's that bloody word again!)us to see what they could offer. They also mentioned about a financial assessment to see what we could pay towards Mo's care, totally threw me I wasn't expecting that at all.I only want a carer to come in as & when to help Mo with her personal hygiene as it was very important to her before the cancer and its one less thing for me to worry about, let alone pay for it.I rang the Hospice @ Home team because it was worrying me how much I would need to pay as it might be expensive, were on benefits and got 'bugger all' in savings. They said not to worry it is means-tested, which means absolutely nothing to me,and based on the amount of savings mo has, thats easy..zero as I am also a full time carer I may not have to pay anyway which would be a bonus.Guess we will just have to wait and see, something we are USE to.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
