well, we manage to escape to the Loire Valley in the motorhome for two weeks. Had treatment on Tuesday, went in my birthday balloon trip wednesday morning and caught the eurotunnel friday night. We went down to the Loire Valley and did chateaus and gardens and finished with Monet's garden at Giverny, which was on my 'things still to do' list. Brilliant
We came home Saturday evening ready for another treatment. The oncologist had the results of the Ct scan I had before the last treatment...
We will not be beaten - if we can't find eachother on warped or anywhere, we can use the comments boxes below to say hi and meet ok?
I was going to do a new blog post for this but it wouldn't let me so you can either read the silly below or skip to the bottom and just use it as a temporary warped or chat place until we can find a way to meet somewhere.. How does that sound?
I hate not being able to see how you all are, and a Little My never gives up (usually) so onwards and upwards. Big...
Dear all, My name is Charne and I joined the Macmillan community a couple of months ago to look for support as a survivor and a carer. I am currently studying in Leeds university, however my home is in Switzerland.
Both my partners treatment and mine took place here. As the summer holidays began, any student has so much excitement to do nothing for 4 months but party, have fun and go out..upon my return in Switzerland my partner was complaining of striking headaches at work and eventually...
Hi everyone
I have recently finished taking Tamoxifen for 5 years and was wondering how others in the same position as myself have been feeling. I am only 40 so i still have not ventured into the menopause although the Tamoxifen did stop my periods for the 5 years (bliss) but now they have started again and my hormones are going crazy!!! I have been suffering from extreme anxiety and panic. After going though all of the treatment and handling it pretty well, I am now feeling the after shocks!!!...
Katy the Macmillan nurse visited today Mo had tried to stay up to see her but she had just taken her morning meds and was tired so she went to bed.Ten minutes later Katy turned up,typical, she quickly nipped into the bedroom to speak to Mo before she got drowsy and ended up talking to her for at least 15-20 minutes.Afterwards Katy spoke to me and said they had talked about'How Mo was feeling?','What she was afraid of if anything?','Did she realise what was going on?'etc. This was the first time Mo...
Paul turned up yesterday (sun)about 12ish to see his mum and give me a little break. He brought some shopping up so he could cook himself and Mo some breakfast, sausages, eggs and some bacon & mushrooms.Didn't think Mo would fancy it let alone get up but she did and managed to eat some which was good.Paul left about 3ish by the time I had got back, only needed to help Mo back to bed after her brunch while he was here, didn't say much when he left.Mo got back up about 6pm for her tea, managed to pick up...
I actually fancied something to eat that wasn't plain today. So I bribed my teenagers with a chinese takeaway if they mucked out the duckshed :) It worked! And I ate and felt fine lol!
Today at work I spent the day preparing for the big open day/1 year anniversary/fund raising event I planned before getting diagnosed. Yeh. I know. I have delegated a lot but had to make sure everyone knew what was happening and when etc. All done! I also folded 200 raffle tickets ready for the tombola... yes...
Saturday and we decided to go to see the belovéd Brighton and Hove Albion play at Leicester which is only twenty five miles away. Tim dropped us off at the Walker's/KingPower/whatever they call it this week stadium and it is very impressive. We aske a steward where to get tickets and he tells us round the back in the shop and off to the shop we go and ask nother steward where we get tickets for the visitors and he says join the queue.
The "queue" is a zig zag chicane and after over half...
Well, I can hardly believe that the last four months have past by so quickly as tomorrow it's back to The Christie for my check-up again. As per usual, my nerves are starting to jangle at the thought ......... especially as three years ago I was almost at the end of Radiotherapy and in a very bad state ( indeed, I was so bad that they admitted me to a ward for care ) So that will entail a rather quick and undignified scurry along the corridor to get past the Radiotherapy Suites as rapidly as possible...
One week ago today we were hit with the news that my husband's cancer had returned - 7 days and nights during which our world has been turned upside down. We are now waiting to hear when the chemotherapy will start - I keep wishing the phone would ring then at least we can set targets, but the silence is deafening.
My husband has returned to work whilst we wait to hear, and that is good. He was getting very depressed at the end of last week and it is great that he is able to be with his friends...
