  • The mysteries of Mo
    October 8th 2011

Paul phoned today saying he wouldn't be up today as he had all his bills to pay.The one day I was hoping he was visiting,he wasn't,normally it wouldn't of been a problem.Today was my mums birthday and I was hoping to get her a card and a present and take it up to her as I hadn't been able to get them yet.Luckily I had the foresight to ring my mum earlier and wish her a happy birthday but it would of been nice to actually see her.Slightly 'cheesed off' to say the least,Oh Well! never mind at least...

  • The mysteries of Mo
    October 7th 2011 (pt2)

After Katy and I had a further conversation after talking to Mo in the bedroom we decided not to increase her steroid dosage yet. However Katy did suggest that I gave Mo her current dosage earlier in the afternoon, about 2-2.30pm rather than at 6pm and thought that it may help Mo sleep better at night as the tablets would be absorbed in her system by then.We needed to get her indigestion problems, caused by the steroids, under control first and moving the time of the steroid dosage to earlier would...

  • The mysteries of Mo
    October 7th 2011

Katy popped in today to see Mo and see how she was after the Day Centre had rung her as they were a little worried about Mo. I didn't hear Katy come in as I was getting the washing in from the garden and thought mo was talking to herself when I came back in lol.I left Katy chatting to Mo in the bedroom, having their 'girly chat'and I started to fold up the clean washing.Katy then came into the lounge to speak to me and see how I had been.I told katy that I had a bit of a wobble last night about 10pm...

  • Roland Ratso -the anniversary waltz
It's two long years since my operation and I thought I would take the rat fans down memory lane - well those of you that can remember him.......

    Remember this?

Wednesday 7th Ocotber. This will be my final blog until I come out “the other side” after my operation. When I come out of theatre it will be either to the high dependency unit or the morgue. I know which one I prefer but don’t know which one fate will have in store for me.

A dressing gown belt has turned up but not THE dressing gown belt but washings are in progress so I can be the best dressed patient in my “drink beer” pyjamas, and my Guinness dressing gown...

    ok here it was
When you walk into the day unit, of Haematology, you see pink chairs. People who are dying, people fighting. People who just are getting on with it. It hits you as you talk to those both young and middle aged. Mums, dad’s, grans, and granddads, sons, daughters. Even small children. great grans and granddads. That (and this is inspired by a special friend) that cancer does not care. When you were born, how you look. What your status in society is. How many cars you have, or even what they are. Who...

  • The journey
    Today was a good day
Today Fabe and I went out together for the first time in ages. Today was not about cancer but about fun. We went to see the comedian Micky Flanagan and had forgotten what it was like to laugh so much. We had a lovely time. By the end of the night I was almost in tears though as I realised that I have not seen Fabe looking so happy for ages. Next week Fabe has his scan and that is a daunting prospect but we are hopeful and concentrating on today. I have been trying to think more positively. I have...

  • Adenocarcinoma stage 3
    :(

I have just found out yesterday that my dad (aged 53) has Adenocarcinoma stage 3 lung cancer. It started off in his right lung and has spread to his left lung. He is awaiting radiotherapy and chemotherapy and had hodkinsons disease when he was 16. I was just wandering if anyone has been through a similar experience?

  • Working?
    Happy tears

Had a most delightful text message from Sascha today - her daughter (she is a pupil at the school I used to work in where Sascha still works) has had a collection for me at the school!! And they want to know what I would like!! How sweet is that?! I was too gobsmacked and goosebumpy to think about what might be nice ... Sascha asked if I'd like a tattoo, but I don't know if I am brave enough these days ... I have 4, and have pondered on another ... hmmm. It's either a tattoo or a nice...

  • Bummer....!
In which LM discovers her invincible pants are perhaps vincible after all (is that a word?)

Errr hmmmm well, you see.. it was like this.... well it wasn't really my fault, I mean.... well... errrrr well, there were these strong pants and... well, shuffling of feet, staring at the floor....

Oh sod it.. here goes. starts out ok...

Little My has her invincible strong pants on. Her bag has been empty all day... this is a litte disconcerting as maybe the strong pants are a bit too strong and things are backing up...hmmm ... could be messy! I would stand well back tomorrow if I was you.....
