    October 6th 2011 (pt2)

Unfortunately had a couple more issues with Keren the respite carer again today. I'm not usually one to complain but sometimes 'things' have to be said. As I had mentioned earlier she had already turned up 10 minutes later than she was supposed to,then she had the audacity to ring me while I was out with my mum.Keren had rung me to ask me if I was on my way back as she had to go??. This was at 1.33,three minutes after 1.30, the time she would of normally left had she turned up on time in the first...

    October 6th 2011

Another respite carer came in today for three hours,Keren was her name but it didn't start off too well today. Keren turned up this morning at 10.40-10.45 she was supposed to start at 10.30. Turning up with no apology and later than expected, whether it was only 10 mins or longer is not a very good way to start an introduction! I had only just got off the phone to the office asking them where my carer was and if someone was definitely coming. I has a BRIEF chat with her as it was 'my time',and filled...

Our Journey: The story so far..part 4
I've given a lot of detail in this blog and some of it may seem negative. This has never been my aim. I want to share our journey in the hopes that this can help others who have to face such challenges. So why add the negative detail over the PET CT scan? Was it to highlight inadequacies within the NHS? Absolutely not! it was made clear to us after we'd successfully escalated and overturned the decision which enabled the proactive medical management to be in place, that other people had not been...

Our Journey: The story so far..part 3
Now my poor darling has to be brave and start this battle to defeat the tumours in his body! I know he will win! His strong will and determination will not allow failure! The word doesn't exist in his dictionary! Go darling go!! He had his first chemo that afternoon. It was a very emotional day, moreso for my brave husband who was the one who had to go through all this. His reaction to the news was mixed. At that time I could only imagine that he was relieved to be back on the clinical trial but...

Our Journey: The story so far..part 2
We left the hospital grounds and went for coffee at a nearby store. We talked things through (as we always do) and I said that I'd support him on whatever decision he made; whether he chose to challenge this or just accept this is how it was and to therefore go back and start his treatment. There were tears...lots of tears for both of us. I married a fighter! He rang the consultant and advised that he wouldn't be having his first treatment today as we were going to challenge this in order to get...

Our journey: The story so far
I've neglected the blog updates as there has been a lot going on so I'll try to make up for it with this update. Where to begin...when I last posted my husband had just had his PET CT scan and was due to start treatment. Things didn't go to plan!  We arrived at the hospital all geared up to start the first treatment, and the first step was to have a blood test. An hour later and the blood results were in and it was time to see the consultant. We were told that the clinical trial was no longer an...

  • Working?
Making some plans but not others

Missed an entry last night, as I went to the PTA AGM. Wow I know how to party! :)

So I've been busy in work, arranging meetings with people who want to form links or hire our rooms etc, and some fun stuff such as planing the Xmas Fayre Fundraiser. I DO like my job, and feel very lucky that I do!

We have booked a holiday for March, as I am hoping that all treatments will be well and truly over by then. BUT that little bit of insecure doubt that cancer throws into your life is being...

    How I stopped smoking

If its any use..I use to smoke 100 roll ups a day, from 430am till 930-10pm,,,fingers,tongue,teeth like liquorice coloured…on Feb 1st 2002 my online friends said to me stop……. I just said yeaaah ok…. This is what helped.

    Everytime I fancied I reached for my mobile,(same shape as tin and lighter or a cig packet?) I started composing messages,grammar CORRECT,every T crossed,every I dotted,capitals in place,commas,EVERYTHING,real fiddly keys and concentration….texted...
